I just read a review of the 1D and the author said there have been rumors about a replacement for the 1D that will be a full frame CMOS 6 to 9 MP body that will otherwise be exactly like the 1D. September 2002 timeframe. Has anybody else heard anything like this?

Heard similar lthings. Sometimes CCD, sometimes CMOS.

If true, I suspect it might be full-frame, ISO 25 - 800, low FPS, made for more of a "studio" or "landscape" camera. Not build for speed or high ISO, but for the best quality possible today at low ISO's.

I've heard that it comes with a 28-70L included free.

Actually I heard that it comes with one of those girls Paul Pope posted here a while back. You have to buy 3 L lenses to get both girls included...

Certainly no rumours, speculation or unfounded claims in theses forums,, just the facts at Dpreview.. So no, we've never heard any such thing..

Anyone can buy my models ......anyone ;-)
All you need to do is phone the agency and make a booking :-))))))

But you gotta get the L glass first ...my models don't work in front of sigma lenses ....

Thought that might just be the case; prollay a Melbourne thing.. Here in Sydney where it's warmer (only just though) there are amateurs a plenty.. lol!,,

Nothing but the best.. Funny you should mention though,, I know a few models that either ask or stipulate that they only work with medium format, or no 35mm, or,, now L-glass (lol!!). Sometimes (maybe bordering on a lot of the time) models can be a real pain in the a* ..

Some girls are willing to pose in the nude only if the photographer uses a 10x8 camera with autofocus and motordrive...

What you descibe is in fact "in development" at this time, will be announced in September and be available in Spring of 2003. The price of the 4mp version will drop and that new model will retain the current price range. That is the plan as I understand it. Let's see. (besides I'll be hanging on to what I have anyway so I'm not going to get my juices flowing).

How about some details:

1.0x or 1.3x multipler?
FPS: 3 or 8 ?
Min ISO: 25 or 100?
Max ISO: 800 or 3200?

I lean more towards the first numbers in those choices. This is assuming Canon keeps the 1D around for photojournalists, and the new (1Ds ?) camera is for those with more of a landscape/portrait style.

they come out with a virtual EOS 3D altogether and bypass messing with the 1D. Frankly it would make one heck of a lot more marketing sense. Not that Canon really has any Marketing sense or are just lucky.....

If you're talking about the 3D having CMOS, but otherwise very similar to the 1D (but without all the "body armor"), I don't think they'd do that (to replace the 1D). It wouldn't be high-speed enough for the market they made the 1D for.

I guess time will tell.

It's hard to imagine anything they'd come out with this year (or even next) that would make me want to upgrade. Unless they're talking about ISO 3200 that's as clean as ISO 200 now.

I'd be willing to wager that sometime in early September I might
even post a EOS 1D gallery with very unusual Exif information ;-)
Will it just be you and a few others in the loop,
or will anyone with cash have very unusual Exif info ;-)

Canon can't even fill the quota for D60's...never mind having a 1D replacement by September...Maybe September 0f 2003!

I ordered mine the day that the rumor came out.

I am on 17 waiting lists.

Every day I call each of them and ask when I am going to receivemy 1Ds(or whatever they are going to call it) it. Some give me shipping dates (that they don't honor) and others are clueless. What is wrong with all of our dealers?

I am upset that I have not yet received mine yet!!!! What should I do?
