Lots of LX3 samples, focal lenghts, iso80&400 and macro

This is good stuff Mikee. I appreciate all your efforts and
commentary. I am strongly considering the LX3 and thus far, I like
very much what I'm seeing. Would it be possible for you to post a
couple samples of ISO800 shots with no sharpening and no NR - JPG's
straight from the camera? Thanks alot. -Norm

Thanks for the info. So, does it mean that at 0 no sharpening is being applied and that -2 is actually applying a blur filter or does it mean that at -2, sharpening is basically turned off? That is something that is never clear to me...
Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness, NR settings cannot be turned OFF in
the LX3... These settings can only be set to + -2 steps.

0 is most likely the default value. No camera I know of would add blur
(unless there are tools for doing "arty" stuff).

These photos are a great testimonial to the image quality of the LX3. What I haven't seen discussed is the handling characteristics of the camera, especially its autofocus speed and responsiveness. It seems perfect as a camera for street photography, but that will be the case only if it's as responsive as its high-ISO images are good. Can you comment?

I haven't done extensive tests on auto focus speed since I've been paying more close attention to IQ, but the fact that I haven't been paying attention (or being annoyed) means it's pretty quick.

A lot of shots people asked for were in low lighting situations and I've used compacts before that were just awful in focusing in low light and the LX3 is pretty speedy.

Outdoors, I assume it would be even faster. When I take it out this weekend I'll get back to you.

Oh and I will say that shooting/reviewing in RAW is just as fast as shooting in Fine Quality jpg. My D-LUX3 was so slow when shooting/reviewing, it was a pain using it.

The LX3 is a joy to use. Most probably haven't commented because it's all good news. People are worried about the IQ and noise.

I love the design, menu, UI of the LX3. Can't think of anything I'd change.

Still not sold on the jpegs though, not bad lower ISO, but they have a lot of artifacts mixed with sharpening in there.

But some decent samples.

I still think RAW wise, this will show much better IQ overall. Still think pannie need to work on the jpeg side of things..but it has got a bit better.

Let me see if I can get a co worker to pose for an image knowing it's
going to be seen in 100% lol. Hang on.
Mikee,

After watching her pics, I can´t think that was casual: you´re just a man with an excellent taste in co-workers... ;-)

Edit: Reading deshawn post above, I´m somehow relieved now... :D
