If Leica does do a D-Lux 4 you are in for a treat!

I have Leica D-Lux 3 and I am very dissapointed. Yes, it is a cool camera, sexy and this is all about. The main use for this camera is for party snapshots in daylight (!!!) and macro. For everything else I use Sigma DP1. The image quality of DP 1 is superb. It cannot be compared with LX3 or LX4. And DP1 is NOT a slow camera! You have to try it yourself. What is most important in photography? Image quality or a nice camera with nice functions?

Can you help us with the price? :-)

Lens is too slow and too fixed. But yes, beautiful pictures.

It was clunky and slow. LCD was unreadable outside. For the money it was a joke and a poor piece of hardware from a company who is already in trouble.

It does take effort, but can be quick. I can frame using the LCD in any light by cupping my hand over the LCD. The far superior LCD in my phone requires the same treatment in bright sunlight. But still, the DP1 LCD can be better.

AF needs a major overhaul, but none of these things have been show-stoppers to getting great photos in any condition.

i looked at this image here:
http://www.pbase.com/greggebhardt/image/101800377

your LX3 seems to have a similar problem as mine. the image was
stopped down to 5.6 but nevertheless the left side is quite soft. if
you look at the right side, it is perfectly sharp.

you can also notice it in this image, but not that much:

can you do some further tests at various focal-lengths?

i wouldn't expect any softness from a leica-lens at 5.6 (that's more
than 2.5 stops from maximal aperture, which i assume would be about
2.5 at 7.4 mm)

It's amazing what one can do when one doesn't know what one is doing :)

They were in my in-box and I deleted them. They have been replaced with other images.
