Hello all!

I am a newbie to digital cameras and my new 707 camera I just bought this week. I am in dire need of help on a problem that I am having with my 707. It seems like every time I take a picture the person who I am shooting the picture comes back with their eyes closed.

Can you please let me know if it is the camera or am I missing something when it comes to taking pictures?

How would you all correct this problem? Also do any of you know if Sony offers a class on how to get the most out of the 707 camera? . I had a bad sell person who didn’t show me how the camera works or all the options the 707 has to offer. Are they any old post someone could please link me up to on how a new person could operate this camera?

Thank You All,

I do love my 707

Hi, I'm new to this also. I have been spying on this group for about three weeks, and I thought I would give your problem a try. I noted about a week ago that someone noted the on-camera flash on the 707 fired a tes shot first, then the main shot. This test shot possibly gives people the impression that the camera had already taken the picture, and they blink or close their eyes. Try using the red-eye reduction (since it shoots alot of flashes first, they won't know what hit them and will maybe keep their eyes open! ;).

Or, get the accessory flash. It does not fire a flash first.

Turning off the red-eye reduction feature might help. I found people tended to blink at the pre-strobe. When I tried using it, I'd get shots of folks with closed eyes, or eyes that look like they're drugged. Needless to say, I don't use it anymore. It's much easier to correct it (red-eye) when editting.

Mireya,

I just got my F707 this past Tuesday. I'm totally in love with the camera, but I understand your problem.

One possible method of getting photos might be to use the Burst 3 mode. In that mode, once you set the focus and press the button, the camera will take three instantaneous shots automatically. I use this setting when I'm shooting wildlife and birds. It's been FANTASTIC and I've gotten more useable shots this way.

I was used to the Mavica DSC-F95...it's a lot heavier than the F707 and the camera body is larger. The FD-95 also had a "steady shot" feature to help control my "jitters". I noticed immediately that the F707 has the same reaction to my pressing the button as a gun might have when the trigger is pulled. The camera tends to "jump" on me so I lose my focus. The Burst 3 mode has also taken care of the "kick" I create when shooting.

Hope this helps.

I agree completely, it's better to turn off red-eye reduction.
Experiencing F707 since last XMas, a fantastic camera!

I just want to thank you all who help out my wife with giving her helping hints to her 707 problems. Although she has tried most of them she is still having problems I told her it comes with practice and to keep trying to take good pictures

Just one last comment to Nuyah on his post why do you have to be such a smart-ass man! You hurt my wife’s feelings with your dumb ass comments. Didn’t your mom tell you if you have nothing nice to say don’t say it at all?

Once again guys thanks for the tips and if you have any more tips for us newbie’s please feel free to post them.

Thanks Mireya’s husband.

Steve
The flash does not work in burst mode, just an FYI.
