MkIIn won't focus in Portrait orientation

I am having trouble with my 1D Mk IIn. It won't auto-focus when it's turned to the portrait orientation position. It works properly in the landscape orientation but when I turn it 90 degrees it will no longer focus at all. The problem is consistent through several lenses ranging from a 50mmf1.8 to a 24-70 to a 70-200 to a 300mm f4.

Has anyone here ever experienced this type of problem? The camera is about a year and a half old. It's been used fairly heavily (105,000 accuations) for pj work, but not abused. I have never had any problems with it before this.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would consider getting it serviced. It's likely a piece of dirt on the focus mirror or focus sensor. The x-type sensor has a pair of sensors one orientation is failing try to switch to one of the other x points to check if the problem persists.

This might be to simple, but is the vertical on/off switch on

Thanks. I had forgotten it even had that switch. I turned it to on when I first got it and always left it that way. I feel a little embarrassed that I overlooked something so simple, but at the same time very relieved that I don't have to send my camera away for a couple of weeks.
