I generally leave the White Balance on my D40x on auto however no matter how I set "Optimize Image" I get very red skin tones with a flash. Would adjusting the Auto White Balance + - in Auto mode yield more natural skin tons? If so would I go + or - Thank you for any advice!

Normal - I also have the same trouble in portrait. I Use an SB 600 or 400 and have tried Demb's Flip-it and a Light Sphere and an omni bounce

I have tried both TT-BL and TTL. I thought by adjusting the White Balance in Auto mode by + - 2 or 3 I could remove some red. Maybe I need to co with a custom settings in "Optimize Image"? I thought the issue was in my white balance because shooting landscapes and other lighting conditions I get positive results.

Thank you so much,
Thomas

Some issues I do believe are the result of weak flash. I found that to happen with a Fong's Light Sphere
