I use them all of the time. I love them! Just make sure your monitor is calibrated with their color profile. You can download it online.

Their are several pro photogs who use the costco lap here in Texas.

I haven't used it, yet, but I have heard good things.

Once in a while. It may hav changed or there may be different methods to upload. I didn't find it convenient or fast. I had some crop problems at the local store, uneven edges, a bit crooked, once, the few other times were OK. Working through their kiosk was fine. Can be busy and some of the kiosks down. Crowded and busy around holidays.

I always ask them to turn of auto-asjustment because I do post-processing. Occasionally they mess up the prints, some managers will BS you but you can always get a reprint free or refund. I usually do a 4x6 test print on a few images first to determine if their machine is well calibrated before I send over large qty (like 700 images). Customers are happy with Costco's prints. I understand other labs may have better quality and photo will last longer, but unless my customers are willing to pay for it, Costco is a good alternative.

I've been using Costco for prints for several years now and think it's great. The prints are beautiful and it's rare that I need something reprinted. 4x6 prints are 17 cents each, a 12x18 enlargement is only $2.99.

It's nice to be able to send the prints to different stores based on where you are when needing lab work.

They mail prints free (no limit either) up to 12x18 to any address you choose. A nice feature when sending photos to family and friends.

They provide quite a few tools for photo editing but I can't attest to how good or bad they are. I try to do any editing locally before uploading them so haven't really needed them. I will use their crop tool from time to time and it seems to work fine.

Costco just made some changes on the server side of things and I've noticed the upload speed has dropped significantly. It took about 45 minutes to upload 30 shots from my fast DSL connection on Thursday (07/31). I'm hoping they were having network issues and will be addressing it soon.

I turn off the auto-correct feature so they won't be messing with color or contrast. I've tried downloading the printer profiles but found it's not really necessary with my current monitor and video card.

here in salt lake city costco's machines are sharper than one of the downtown "pro labs" colors may differ a bit and they do not have matellic paper

I had problems with my costco.

After a trip two years ago, I had half of my 74 rolls of film developed at Costco and 1/2 developed at Wal mart. Now before we go further I am NOT promoting WM or bashing Costco so lets keep focus here.

The prints from Costco were quite poor compared to WM. I showed the prints from both stores to the Costco photo manager and she was shocked by the difference. Costco prints were out of focus and the colors certainly were much more gray than those from WM. Costco ended up having thier machines readjusted and calibrated and redid all my prints to a much better standard. No matter how much work they did they have never, to this day, ever been able to match the prints from WM.

So my recommendation is to try out a few different sources for prints and see what makes you happy and use the best services you can find.

I had a 36" x 12" panorama printed at Costco here in the UK and although it didn't match exactly to my monitor it actually looked better and hangs on my living room wall.

The cost of £9.29 was very inexpensive for this country.

Give them a try, thats the best way to find out.

USed them for a while. They were all right. I think it probably varies pretty strongly location to location though. Most of the big box stores provide very little training to their photolab people. The one I used to use wasn't bad, but the other one in town had a worse reputation.

Thanks for all the inputs...I gave it a try anfd in general was happy. I would say that the prints were "darker" than my monitor. I did not do anything with profiles.

I will continue to "test" . I may use them for my camera club competition instead of my Canon i9900.

My only complaint with Costco is that either one of the two stores nearest me are about 30 mile round trip. As to what I like about them.

Cost to begin with, for the quality of the product it can't be beat, you can also select between luster or glossy, my local walmarts and sams clubs don't offer a choice.

Ability to obtain profiles, and turn off the autocorrect on the machines even when you upload your photos via the internet. With most of the budget processing places, even if you go there in person and request they turn off autocorrect, they leave it on which sometimes really screws up your prints. I've found Costco prints a pretty good match for my calibrated monitor, even without using their profiles. With the profiles, it's about as good as you can get. The trick is making sure autocorrect is OFF

You don't get hassled about not being able to process your order because they're i"professional". Sams club, walmart etc are so worried about getting in trouble they hardly ever process any engagement, wedding, collage, or portrait work where I've used a photo backdrop. You show up to pick up your order only to learn they didn't do it and you're going to have to go through the filling out of paperwork to swear it's your work again....

what information do they print on the back of the photo?

thanks

The secret is out I guess. I know that some pros use Costco for photo processing.

Go out and shoot what you see, it will not be the same tomorrow.

I've been using their stores for years to print 12x18 pictures. For $2.99 it's hard to beat. When I show people the pictures I tell them don't worry about fingerprints, I'll just reprint them. If they make a mistake they print up another one no arguments. I only used the website once for a 20x30 and was happy with it.

Remove AutoCorrect

AutoCorrect is a feature that most amateur photographers use. If you are a professional photographer and use an editing tool such as Adobe PhotoShop to adjust your images or select printer profiles, you should turn off AutoCorrect to make sure that your prints are not altered.

Do not AutoCorrect my prints.

Remember my back print text and autocorrect information for future orders.

Bob - I have been trying to figure out how to access the page that will let me turn off the auto correct and add back printing - the Costco help file does not address this and I cannot search. Is there a certain click order to follow

After you pick up location you will get a screen that has a line "edit options."
click on this.
If this doesn't help I will post a screen shot.
