Well, I like the clouds better in the 2nd pic. But the rest of the image looks like something I saw during an acid trip back in the early 70's. :-D

Hmmm. Just looks over saturated to me; not real HDR.

It does look over-processed in the grass and barn coloration but the original screams for a sky boost. Each to his own taste. I'd prefer a milder version.

I'm sorry, but this is not HDR !!
We can argue about the fact : is this image some kind of art ??

YES it is, but I don't like this kind if photografic art (but this is MY opinion)

It is defenately not a HDR-image as it should be :

to overcome the great contrast differences in a normal image, straight out of the camera.

I have to agree I think it is over done, but I kinda liked it. It doesn't look like a photo out of a camera, looks more like a painting. Does anyone have a before and after so I may see what HDR really does?

With this photo, I would try an exposure blend to bring out the sky. If you want, e-mail me a copy of the file and I can show you a possible outcome.

Thanks for the explaination and link. Seems like a cool way to combine "real" photographs....not simply altering one.

As others have said, it doesn't look to me like real HDR.... but everyone's taste is different.

My thoughts are that the original looks more like a candidate for simply working on the blown sky. Both Lightroom 2 and Lightzone provide ways to do that.

If you post your original I'm sure you'd have many posting results using their favoured solutions from their toolbox.

I don't have a before and after HDR, but I do have this sample I created from three redwood tree images. I did so because the sky was so burnt out and the only way to get detail was to underexpose the images.

Here is the composite:

...as the overall lighting is more natural. I'd just take the color down a notch.

seem to have misplaced the original 3 shots with 1 step exposures so you can see comparisons but here is what I like with HDR. it can bring out detail in both the under and overexposed areas of a group of shots, which for limited dynamic cams such as the 50 can make the difference sometimes.

By the way : is this camera-noise or added in purpose......

Greetz,
-=Rob.
hdr process sometimes enhances the grain effect (prefer that to noise!) just didnt smooth out this time because I felt it added to the shot. thanks for compliments and for info this was only a 800x600 rendition done on the free version of photomatrix.
