For wide nuts! A new Zenitar/PTLens FOV test

Hi Richard,

have you tried the Zenitar on the K20 ? I have not used my Zenitar
for over a year , I must get it out dust it off and give it some air
:-)

It should work quite well with it. I still use an old DS but my kit usually contains the Z16 and another lens or 2. I always take it for the Xtreme wide angle shots. It and the 17-70 have been all I have needed for traveling lighter.

Hi Richard, does the old Zenitar profile still work with the current
version of PTLens? Where can one get this profile from?
Yes it does, but actually there's no point, if you use the Distortion
slider and then the Crop slider you end up with virtually the same
result.
Yeah, I played with it a bit last nite and it seems to work quite well. It would be nice if one could save defishing options as "profiles". Right now only the last options are saved.

If you have Photoshop, record PTLens as an action and it will remember all slider settings at the time the action was recorded. So if you have more than one fisheye lens this is the ticket.

Otherwise, you are correct. The slider settings are reused and there are no profiles for fisheye distortion settings.

I have a russian 20mm 3.5, its image quality is superb, I love the colors. I really doubt the da 21mm are much better IMO.

Anyway I find out that I dont take it with me cus my bag is to small, Its a Big lens.

Its out on ebay now (I hope to save up to a k20d with all the grear I aint have with me and should sell): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220265556632

No, I sold it as I found that I rarely used it, the difference between it and my DA 16-45 @ 16mm was insufficient.

I use Lightroom and only have the Zenitar for now so I think the current setup will do for now. At least it provides a decent starting point after defishing the first photo.
