Hi Everyone,

Well we returned today from our vacation. I would like to share with you the area that we visited. It boasts some of the most beautiful scenery. We have visited over many years and are always inspired by its majesty.
  1. 1. Blyde River Canyon- this part one runs out of adjectives to describe the beauty of the mountain scenery and panoramic views.

  1. 2. This little snake Ernest saved from a cat. It is called a ‘skaapsteeker’, which translated means ‘sheep sting’.

  1. 3.We stopped at a roadside tourist spot for gifts. This was the potter.

  1. 4. Potter’s wife.

  1. 5.Pottery wares.

  1. 6. Bourke’s Luck Potholes. This is where the Treur River (River of Sorrow) meets the Blyde River (happy / cheerful river) and these surreal rock carvings are the product of water erosion over thousands of years.

  1. 7.Mountain flowers.

  1. 8. Coral tree, it gets these magnificent flowers before it gets leaves, when the flowers finish then the leaves appear.

  1. 9. Pink wild flowers. I am always amazed that in the dryness of our country we have these beautiful little flowers that are growing everywhere.

Cheers.

Take the scenic route! Life is too short to do otherwise.

Wonderfull pictures of the trip Jill. I really like the picture of the potter. And the schaapsteker as we would probably call it in the netherlands looks like a nice animal, at least to people...

I can see you had a good trip.

Greetings,
Erwin

thanks for the kind words. I really enjoy taking some of our indiginious people, they have such interesting faces. The skaapsteeker got its name because the farmers kept finding dead sheep. They thought these little snakes were responsible, as they were always around. In fact it was the cobra ( Geelslang)that was the culprit, but these harmless little snakes got branded.

This is an area you should put on your wish list , we kept on meeting folks from Europe that raved about the scenery.

Cheers,
Jill

It truly is the most breath taking place., the silence is broken by bird song or sounds of mountain streams. Tomorrow I am doing a series for Marti , he visited here before and loves the place. Just remember our currency has been the lowest performing for the last three years, so it is very affordable for you. I really can recommend it, truly awesome.

Firstly welcome to STF , delighted that you took the trouble to look at my pictures. Yes, we did have a good time. I am in turn looking forward to seeing what you have shot with your H50. I too would love to learn about your part of the world.

Cheers,

Thanks for warm welcome. I'm new in STF and really green in photography, so my pics wouldn't be as good as yours. Maybe some day :) I think it's worth to try and do my best. I will gladly show my shots to you when I'll be able to do that, and introduce you with my part of the world. By the way, sorry if you'll find some mistakes in my english. It's not my mother-tongue :)
