D700 in stock at Ritz right now

I just ordered one from Ritz too. Hopefully I will get it as soon as Tuesday since I chose 2 day shipping method. Total is $2999 a piece, can't wait to land my hand on her body... :-)

I just ordered one over the phone from Ritz... and the person taking my order said after all billing/shipping information was shared that the order has been placed (got a confirmation #) and a camera has been reserved for me, but I need to call some other phone number during business hours on friday the 25th because the order is a 'high dollar value'. Anyone here told by Ritz to do a similar thing to complete the order?

You mean you cannot even access the site without a current gov't id?

I thought you mentioned that retired personnel were allowed the
discount?

A friend who worked for the Census Bureau has asked me if they
qualify for the discount. Please advise.
Instead of trolling around like a chicken with your head cut off why don't you just call Ritz to see if you qualify. Or better yet, just do a search in this forum as this matter has been discussed befor. Or if you think you qualify just go to the AAFES site and activate yourself. This arrangement is primarily for certain armed forces personnel and not for the general public.

Ritz goes through an exhaustive authentication process on most large dollar orders. Expect a follow up email or call requesting to validate your order and then communication with your credit card company authorizing the purchase. Your credit card company may call you as well before they will release the order. Delivery to addresses other than the billing address will also slow things up.

Wow...thanks for the tip. I just saved $300. Sorry Adorama. I even ordered it next day saturday delivery for a mere $36. Hopefully it will be in my hands Saturday afternoon.

Sweet.....thanks again

P.s. And what is your story? Trolling around to belittle people you don't know on net forums? I hope you do not have children...yeesh.

Thanks for your helpful reply, it's reassuring to know that such follow-up communication is part of the normal ordering process.

Let's hope it goes off without a hitch. I'd have preferred B&H, but I'll take what I can get. I think Nikon might be getting their product launches right finally. I get a sense that there will D700s all over the place by next week, but you never know. Get one when you can given Nikon's history.

If you look at Bestbuy and Circuit City they have really bad ratings too. I realize that these are not the places to buy high dollar camera equipment but I think part of the issue is when you have thousands of customers you have a lot more chances to get dissatisfied customers. I personally have bought from Bestbuy, CircuitCity and Ritz online and have not had any issues. Your Mileage May Vary!

Lets face it if Resellerratings.com is your guide then BH Photo is your store!
I have also bought from them without any issues.

Nikon D100, Nikon 24-120mm VR, Nikon D700 (on order!)

No need now -- it has already shipped, according to the order status. I didn't request any sort of rush delivery though, so mine will probably arrive early next week.

got email confirmation from ritzcamera this morning, item has been shipped.

The reasons I saw posted were what made me wary. I know some customers can be unreasonable (overly-anxious) and some things do slip into a crack. I was turned off by reports of non-delivery and multiple charging of cc's. I just don't have the time or temperment to deal with that.

it is ritzcameragov.com not ritzcamera.gov. The D700 is 10% off but the catch is that you must be in the United States military or retired from the United States military to use the site. The URL above will redirect you to the Army & Air force Military Exchange store. Once there you can go to a special "Mall" and a bunch of vendors....including Ritz camera.....offer discounts to the military and their families.

I want to thank whoever originally posted the site....even if they posted an incorrect URL....because I was able to order a D700 for $2699.99 (no tax or shipping to boot) and get a confirmation that it would ship today!

I can hardly wait!

Ted
