I pre-ordered it, does this mean they'll ship my order soon? I see that it is indeed in stock... it doesn't make sense that someone who orders it right now would get it sooner than those who pre-ordered.
 
It's ritzcamera.GOV. I just got my email confirmation with my order number and ship date. After 12 midnight or more like around 9AM the fedex tracking number will be given.
 
Thanks for sharing this, I was thinking of live-chatting them myself, now I don't have to. I'm actually surprised it's going out so fast, I half expected not to receive the camera until September, seeing as I pre-ordered so late in the game. I guess I should order an L-plate soon...

after googling ritzcameragov i found a site that was asking first time users to sign in with their social security # and their birthday.

at first i thought it was wrong.

but it looks like its a military deal site.
 
no it is not a scam. RitzCameraGov is what it says for US government employees active or retired. Many guy's in this forum know what I mean. We get a 10% discount on any products they sell on their website. Got my D300 for $1619.99 when they shipped there second shipment in November.

1. I had "pre-ordered", too; but, just phoned them to make sure my D700 was shipping.

2. As soon as I gave them my order number, they said one had been reserved for me & that it will ship out tomorrow. As, I had specified Overnight/Saturday delivery, they said I will have the D700 on Saturday 26 July 2008.

Same here, just got off the phone with their confirmation people, the camera will be delivered saturday! So excited...

We're all gonna look back and roll our eyes in a few weeks, just like always.

You mean you cannot even access the site without a current gov't id?

I thought you mentioned that retired personnel were allowed the discount?

A friend who worked for the Census Bureau has asked me if they qualify for the discount. Please advise.
