I shoot some film along with a lot of digital. They each produce different looks and both look good on the wall. In fact, the larger prints of these put the tiny, posted ones to shame. They each have their artistic merits and I will shoot film as long as it does not get too expensive.

I'm going to get the popcorn ready and wait for the flames to start form you know who....

:-)

I do not know about flames but I did forget to mention that the film
was shot with an Oly Stylus Epic, the DP1 of film. ;-)
Great to see you have fun. The Epic (called Mju outside America) was a great camera with a sharp lens, I have a snap of me taken with one that is super sharp.

Those tiny 35mm cameras that fit in your pocket with full size sensors give great results for the occasional photographer.

I have a Rollei 35, tiny little thing with a Tessar lens thats as sharp as a razor.

Nice pocketable camera I bought for peanuts to carry in my pocket.
Have fun, no matter what the spoilers say-

Nice shots there. I shoot mostly digital now but still use my FE2 once in a while. I run the negs through my aeging but still functional Coolscan 4 that I used to digitise my slides

Got my popcorn ready.

Nice pics.

Do both too.

Is the popcorn buttered, or plain?

'Good composition is only the strongest way of seeing the subject. It cannot be taught because, like all creative effort, it is a matter of personal growth. In common with other artists the photographer wants his finished print to convey to others his own response to his subject. In the fulfillment of this aim, his greatest asset is the directness of the process he employs. But this advantage can only be retained if he simplifies his equipment and technique to the minimum necessary, and keeps his approach free from all formula, art-dogma, rules, and taboos. Only then can he be free to put his photographic sight to use in discovering and revealing the nature of the world he lives in.'
Edward Weston, Camera Craft Magazine, 1930.

Thanks Mark

The Epic/Miju does rock. The lens is good but not as good as my SLR lenses. However, I wanted to travel lighter and decided on bringing a pocket cam instead of the K1000 body. It was also nice having the weather sealed camera.

In the end, I am kicking myself for not using the rest of the film.

Nope. I'm waiting waiting for the main attraction, not the cartoon.

Anyways....

What do you think of the photos?

I have tried to recreate that same look from digital. It gets a bit close but there ends up a big loss in low contrast detail in the extremely light areas in the digital shots. Film gets punchier but still maintains the shading detail.

Why do I have a feeling that Lutti doesn't like you posting?, just a hunch.

I like the converging lines and the slow curve into oblivion. Perhaps some fog would enhance this - if it's your neighborhood, maybe wait until you can get something like that and repeat the shot. Which is which? B&W film? It looks the other way round to my eye, but then I wear glasses.

ps, do not handle the film after eating popcorn, you'll get grease all over it!

Common Lutti, move on. How about being nice.

... and talking of nice, the OP's shots are beautiful. How about posting some of your 4x5 famous landscape shots?
