Are we cheating ourselves ?

I print many photos so does my wife... she is a scrap booker...
The thing I like about the prints are they show so much more detail
than the Monitor.. I print 13 X 19 and 13 X 24 inch prints and they
are so good, they look three dimensional..
we have five active printers in our house..
5 Printers. Wow, you must be rich. At the price of printer ink,
it makes gasoline look cheap.

I am looking at getting a larger size printer in the future.

Regards,

Rick
--Ive been printing photos on Epson Photo printers for 15 years.. and Ive learned a few things over the years.. Ive learned about paper, and Ive learned about ink... and Ive learned about printers..

Over the last 12 to 15 years, Ive become very familiar with Epson.. I have some inside connections that the average consumer can not reach... anyway..

Rick, let me tell you a few things that Ive learned...
Printer:

when you are buying a high end printer, buy a refurbished one... they use a new case and go over the engine and rebuild it, it has the same warranty as a new one and it comes with new ink.... and its half the price.

I bought a refurbed R-1800 a 600 dollar printer ( 8 inks including two different color blacks and a gloss cartridge ) the prints are incredible. I bought mine with a 75 dollar rebate for 249 dollars.

I buy all my ink from a company called Printpal , free shipping no tax and the cost of an ISO 9000 compliant cartridge is 7 dollars instead of 20 dollars. I get the shipment in 4 days...in the five years Ive been with printpal, Ive bought alot of ink...I only had one problem one time with a cartridge, and they sent me a new one overnight..

My wife has an Epson portable picture mate, it only print 4 X 6 but lab quality prints.
She also has an Epson RX 500 all in one scanner copier and printer.

She also has an Epson C60 plus... I bought this for her as a stand alone printer I bought it refurbed, the total cost was 40 dollars which included 4 ink cartridges

Epson has rebates and they also apply to their refurbed units..

Agree 13*19 are very nice to see even with 6 Mpx (starting from a sharp enough pic). Too bad, my epson 1200 (!) died last year.

I had the opportunity to see some of my picts on the new flat full HD of my friend (1.04 m diagonal) and it is also something very interesting remembering the slide era.

His TV has a USB slot and it is very easy to show friends a few picts in very good conditions.

Something to remember when my TV will died.

Good info, thanks for sharing.

They sure are, I love mine too. A lot of folks complain about clogged nozzles with these but in the two years or so I've owned mine I've had only on clog that cleared with one simple cleaning cycle.

I bought mine with a 75 dollar rebate for 249 dollars.

Great price, I'm jealous.

Another great price. I pay just under $11 for each locally.

Rick, I ordered my Epson R1800 from the Epson store early in the morning on a Thursday, they said it would go out that day... they provide tracking... it didn't go out on Thursday or Friday, some shipping glitch.. So I called and asked why it didn't go and would not ship until Monday... they were so nice that they sent along an extra set of 8 ink cartridges.. the genuine Epson inks are over 100 dollars..

I also have an RX500 for scanning and copying and general printing purposes.. and the RX500 has card readers...

My printer has been dead for awhile, although the scanner still works, and after a bit of looking around the Epson site, I have ordered a refurbished Epson Stylus Photo RX680. Just remember.... I know where you live.... and I can have a looooong memory.

Go to know some people are printing a lot.

Hope we all get to print more.

Steve, thanks for the link to americanframe.com. I have a couple of 11x14 frames that I rotate photos through, but having 13x19 frames would be nice. Matting and mounting is too much effort for temporary display, so a 13x19 frame would be just the thing.

Where do you find 13x19 photo sleeve books?

I have two Epsons - a R320 and a R2400 - and I love printing images. Its the part of the photographic process that I enjoy the most because its pure pleasure. I'm not concerned about the technical aspects of getting shot. Instead, I simply enjoy the image.

Here are some recent prints:
8x10

11x17

60"x34"

By NOT printing out more of our images?

I was going through some of my images on my computer.
I figured I would print a couple fullpage 8.5" x11" photos on my HP
printer.
It is a Photosmart 8250, not a real fancy printer, but it does photos
pretty well.

These are the 2 pictures I printed.

I was really surprised how much better the images looked
printed. The colors and details seemed to stand out.
I've printed a bunch of shots before, but I've gotten out of the habit.

I wonder if other people, who print very few of their images,
are not getting the full effect out of their digital images and camera.

How much do other people print out there?

Regards,

Rick

It is a lot of fun to print out pictures.

But I think a lot of people are hesitant to print
due to cost or display space or whatever.

I agree that I need to just print more.

Nice shots that you printed. I really like the diner shot.
A classic picture.

Last year I started to remodel my house...I started by converting my office in the basement, into a home theater... the walls are all covered with soundproofing and carpet.. I have nothing on the walls but because of this thread I am going to make two or three display shelves to show off some of my 13 X 19 photos.

My only concern is that I have theater recliners with butt busters in the frames.. these vibrate through my surround sound system to make the theater experience more sensual... I dont know how the photos will respond to these vibrations..
you can do a search on butt busters and see what I mean.
