Great thread!

No blue skies in the UK, so here are some from my recent holiday to the Mediterranean island of Gozo.

We're not getting a lot of blue sky in this part of the world in the summer of 2008. But it did put in an appearance just as I'd climbed up the hill to see this statue. It's a monument to Kate, a 14-year-old girl, who died tragically at the North Devon resort of ilfracombe (UK) in 2000.

That's months of self-therapy undone.

I thought I'd convinced myself I didn't need another Fuji to replace my little E550 (32-108mm and 6MP 'doubled' in the camera). I'd both given away my XDcards and even resisted FujiUK's offer of reconditioned E900s for a ludicrous £70 - and then you come along and remind me of those blue skies.

Well Tony, thanks a bundle!

JPG straight from the camera, just resized and sharpened - no other treatment.

What am I going to do?

Is there anything of a similar size in today's range that would give the same sort of results? I had RAW on the E550 but, as that picture demonstrates, the JPGs were sometimes just fine as they were, and it might not be essential.

(By the way, in front of that wonderful blue sky, there's part of the roof of a trullo - a small, round peasant house with a conical stone roof - in the remarkable town of Alberobello in Puglia, on the eastern coast of southern Italy).

Actually, digging out that shot and reliving our trip has made a nice start to a Sunday morning, so thanks also for prompting the memory!

But a camera suggestion would make it perfect....

Peter,

Now you made me feel guilty.
Truth is, not everyone has great weather all the time.
If you lived on an island which does, then you should take more shots of it.

As for camera suggestion, most people here know I'm an F30 shooter, which is not in production anymore, and does not have raw.

Get what you think is for you, nothing less, not a substitute.

Limlh,

I used to live opposite Chinese Garden for 3 years, but seldom went there except for a morning job.
Nothing like the real thing in China though....hahaha
