40D owners who upgraded from XTi??

40D, 70-200F4L@140mm, 1/400, ISO 3200, AIServo, 6.5 fps, RAW, PS=neutral, cropped in DPP. First one only corrected for WB, no sharpening, NR etc. Second one DPP NR and DPP RAW sharpening. Need to find an equivalent XTi sample but noise on my XTi even at ISO 800 was worse than this 40D example. The XTi noise over the entire picture would look like or at ISO 1600 worst than the noise in the shadow area under the chin.

Doubt if it will be before Feb 2009.
We will see.
One of the main reasons I upgraded to the 40D is that the 400D (XTi)
lost detail, even at ISO 400, particularly when viewing bird feathers
at 100%. At the same time, comparing 400D shots taken of human skin
viewed at 100%, the difference is barely noticeable between the 2
cameras.
Agree. I don't make feather shots. I make capilar and close ups. The 40D detail is a lot better but noisier. Unas por otras.
What camera is perfect? And being perfect would it make you a better
photographer? The capability of the 40D (and cameras of similar ilk)
is well beyond the ability of a lot of photographers.
You are right. I deserve an Holga (which I have, ja). Is the 40D beyond your skills? Seriously, I wish my 40D had a reliable autoiso and better LCD... and yes, the ability to turn invisible when Im on a dangerous street.

I bought from Amazon. The trick is to get it into your Gold Box, you will get 5% less.
Here's the thread:

And I sold my stuffs on craigslist.

Good luck finding.
I bought the kits $1075 and sold the lens $310, minus the (hopefully)
rebate $50 for upgrade. My cost for the 40D body came to $715.
Sold the XTi with the grip & extra battery for $500, sold within 2
days post.
I don't need the grip for 40D.
So my overall cost for upgrade is $215 + $12 for extra battery.
@blksnday:

Where/how did you get such a good price on the 40D kit ?
Let me know when you get some time (you can email me at max2k1 -at-
gmail
com)

thanks!
