Is there anyone using Linux as there OS. If so what software are you using ?

Thanks

Can you edit RAW images with GIMP? I think I read that RAW images are specific to the maker and only their software can process them. Right?

Thanks

I use GIMP on Windows and I know that there are add-ons for reading RAW (NEF for my case since I own nikon dslr)

The 'UFRaw' plugin should work, if 'dcraw' supports your camera.

dcraw -- the command-line raw converter used by that plug-in -- appears to be fairly actively maintained and supports a pretty good number of cameras.

See my sig.

I use RawTherapee, UFRaw, Digikam, Krita, Showfoto, Gimp, Cinepaint, Kuickshow, Enfuse, QTpfsGUI, UFRB-KDE etc.

There are literally hundreds of programs, a whole host of them dedicated to RAW development.
