The DA 21 pancake was a pleasure to carry around on K100D for street photography in India. The humidity is high in Kolkata during the monsoon season. And not to mention the pollution. But Pentax performed flawlessly in my sweaty arms. The nice DOF of DA21 makes it fun for street photography for sure. Its a sharp mid-wide beast. Hope you enjoy the pics in the reply.

Great images, very interesting and colorful.

(I'm curious about the guy hammering the bricks, why is he doing that?)

thanx!

aaaah! the usefulness of cheap manual labor. he is pulverizing the bricks to use the smaller pieces for gravel in decorative driveways or for some sort of cheaper concrete mix.

'Photography is not like painting,' Cartier-Bresson told the Washington Post in 1957. 'There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative,'

I really like these photos! They make me want to both buy the DA 21 limited and to go back to India. I haven't been there in years, but these photos seem to capture the street scenes in a way that brings back memories. Thanks for posting them.

Just goes to prove what I've been saying all along... There is no poverty in the US. Not relative to the world.

Great subjects for the pancake 21mm. I use it extensively for street photography but I have learned to take the pictures from waist level which is unobtrusive and gets a better perspective. I also do a lot of street photography with my 50-135 from a distance that keeps me out of the center of attention and produces some really candid shots.

Thanks for putting those up. I really like how you are shooting, very respectful and informative and well-composed.

What I don't like is that I had settled into not buying the DA 21mm for a few months, but now you've got me wanting it again :)
