D60 problem?

Hello all!

I was recently using my D60 to shoot some sunrises. After doing so I noticed that when i press a button to display the LCD, it would turn on than flicker off and then on and off. if I put my camera vertically then it wouldnt do it. Also, When i change the setting to auto or any dummy settings then it wouldnt flicker. Once in the shutter, aperature, manual modes it would start doing it again.

so i reset the camera and took out the battery and put it back in. Then it stopped.

really weird. Any views?

have you tried turning off the eye sensor part of it? Maybe that is what is acting up.

I use a D60 at work periodically, and there is some setting that turns off the LCD pretty easily in some modes. Perhaps you bumped something? I don't have a solution, but I don't think anything is broken

I guess the only think I can do is watch it for a while see if it acts up. I know I didnt change any settings related to the eye piece or LCD. I do hope it is no broken :S.

Might just check that one out if it acts up again. Its something that people have complained about, the eye sensor that is. Mainly in bright light it will get confused, thinking that your eye is up there and flickering the screen on and off.

Try fully charging your battery too, I have heard that that helps. Personally have not run into the flicker problem with my D60 so it is not happenning on all of them. Jerry

In regards to the sun, I think that is totally a possibility as there was a yellow/orange light shining on the eye sensor. The flikering stopped after I got into normal light.

Also, my batteries were almost out. They were out once I got home from the sunset shooting.

I will definitely keep an eye out for it.

My girlfriend has a D60, and I've seen it act this way maybe two or three times before. From what I could tell, it had to do with the the sunlight hitting the sensor, or sunlight reflecting off her her clothes while the camera was close to her body.
