Saw this little fella on a wall outside on a trip yesterday.

Could not get a better composition because these a really shy creatures. The images were rather overexposed as well, though I could save some quality in post.
Taken with the Marumi macro lens.

More great shots, what settings did you use and did you manually focus?

@tameside: It's a +3 achromat, maybe I'll add a +5 to my arsenal as well in the future.

@seiko: The shots are done with manual focus set to nearest distance in A-mode. Then basically just like any other macro shot I go focus hunting by moving the camera forth and back. You have a blazing fast camera, so why not use it ? So, at 10-20fps there's always a few shots that are steady and in focus at the same time.

If you want to see more close-ups I can post some, no prob. I think I have gotten more in 2 months with the F1 than with my old cam in 2 years.

i really would like to see more of your pics! and can you also give me more details about the attached lens? in fact i mean the type name and so on. thanks alot.

Some of them pics are truly outstanding, they are "top drawer" , hope you understand the phrase!

Awesome!

Love the pictures! ---- But have you ever heard of an exterminator? Way to many blood suckers :-0 LOL

P.S. Thanks now I have to go spend more money for that lens.

outstanding! thanks also for the link - i will get one too.

Thanks @ all for the nice comments.

I am very pleased with the quality of the lens. On my old cam (3x zoom) I used a 52mm +10 lens which was nor bad either, but now with this combination it's actually more flexible. Because of the 12x zoom I can get about the same magnification while being actually further away from the object.

It takes a bit of time to adjust to the shakiness, but it's better for nervous creatures. And of course CA is much reduced over my old combo.

Best thing is, the summer is still young. From time to time I'll post more stuff as it becomes available.

My favourite is the bee straddling the petal, it look's like he was posing for the shot! its just not how you'd expect to see a bee.

fine stuff
