Good Deal on Oly B-300

Anyone know what a good price is for a Oly B-300?
Im going to bid on one, but dont know how high I should go.

I was thinking of bidding on that one myself, but can't afford it right now. I'd go $177 (you have $10 for shipping, which is outrageous for so small an item).

I doubt you'd get that lens for $177. I estimate $280 up. They're getting harder and harder to find.

i got mine from MIKE J MCELHATTON of CAMERABUG DIGITAL ([email protected]) for $211, including 2 day Fed-Ex shipping and adaptor ring for my F707. He seems to be getting shipments from time to time. my B300 came in brand new w/ the olympus paper and a soft bag in the original box.

be aware though, the B300 can only be used at full-tele, there will be vignetting for sure otherwise.

B&H had them last year for around $125. Did Oly stop making them? Why? It seemed like a pretty popular lens (well, if this forum is any indication of its popularity).

I can't find them on B&H anymore.

I found them at Eagle Eye: http://www.eagleeyeuk.com , for $198.75 USD, plus whatever shipping&handling would be.

Olympus discontinued that lens last year. They've been available since then at several places, but it appears that whatever was in the pipeline is just about all gone. It seems you never miss a good thing until it's gone. That lens is popular with Olympus, Canon and Sony users. I've already seen the price at $300 on eBay, and I turned down $250 for mine last November.

It's the American way. Charge the highest price the market can bear.

That's why I didn't get one. Also had problems with that seller they are talking about on Ebay so would feel like a hypocrite if I bought from him. So I bought the TCON 14B and love it.

Robert,

Does the vignetting effect occur for all model cameras?
Did u find that the lens was worth getting for use only at full zoom?

I'm also thinking about getting one for my E100, but really unsure what I'm getting myself into.

Not an accurate statement.

The b300 works well on many camera models.On the Oly C2100UZ AND the Sony 707 vignetting occurs at up to 70% of the zoom range but the last 30% is usable without any edge darkening.

A good alternative lens is the Oly c210 priced at around $80.00. It vignettes a bit at full zoom but is just as sharp as the b300 . It works well in good light for birding and wildlife shots. Thread size is 52 mm so it requires a 58-52mm step ring.
