Aussie E3 owners and buyers

Hi F-M,

I think that the around $50 is correct (I seem to remember it being $56 or something) plus the GST. You're paying GST anyway when you buy here so there is no imposte there. Plus postage of course. I just got some stuff from B+H today (film - yes, film, and a memory card) and their service is fantastic. Have also used Adorama, Cameta etc and they've all been really good.

The 7-14 is a magnificent lens. I also bought mine in America and I didn't think I'd used it all that much, yet looking back through my files I've actually used it a lot and for some of my favourite pictures. Honestly, the quality - both as an object and in the files - is just wonderful. Good luck with yours.

Hello again Mark,

Just had a look at your gallery, excellent. Lived in Spring Hill near
forty years ago for a little while, and now have a daughter who works
there, haven't been back to Brissy in years and haven't been through
Spring Hill for even longer. Small world isn't it.

I've bought from Adorama and can highly recommend them for great service and quick delivery to Brisbane. Ordered Wed night and had on the door the following Monday. Plus prices are good.
Best of luck

FWIW I was looking at buying the 50-200 SWD lens at Cheaptronics as they had the best price in Australia.

Since I'd never heard of them I did a quick google search to see what kind of web presence they had. It was the best 15minutes I spent. Cheaptronics is a sham, the store itself has recently been renamed to avoid bad press that it had from the WA government (based in WA) and other people who had been ripped off.

Run your own google search to get the details. Needless to say I didn't go ahead with the purchase and bought from the US instead.

. . . I have purchased three OLY cameras from Cameta/EBAY and I have
NO complaints. They are my first choice when looking for a body.

Thank you Paul,

Like you I have found Cameta Cameras excellent people to deal with.

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your very kind offer, can't remember the name of the street where we lived, it was just a little street off St Paul's Terrace, and the flat was just what we wanted, cheap. Thanks again mate.

Hello guerciottiman,

Thanks for that very valuable information, so we cross Cheaptronics off the list. It's a shame that the Australia dealers can't get anywhere near the prices offered in the USA, just on rough figures, the E3 plus the 12-60 lens including GST, customs, shipping and insurance, works out at about four hundred dollars cheaper if you buy it from a dealer in the USA. As a famous professor would say "Why is it so?"

Thanks Mark,

Have read in the Forum that Adorama are also good people to deal with. Going to need that luck in picking which way to go.

Import on items over $1000 is calculated with a complicated little
process.
http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=5549
Item Value + Duty (5% of Value) + Transport & Insurance + 10% GST on
all the above.
Hello Kurt,

Thank you for that most helpful link.
