Hy

I got a new KENKO TC 1.5 and I use it with my K10 and 50-135/2.8 SDM.

When the AF/MF switch on zoom is on AF, zoom's motor doesn't work and MF write flashes in the viewfinder.

With the switch on MF, I have to focus manually, of course, but MF write is locked.

Also, if I push the menù button, this appears and disappers immediately.

With my 16-45, Kenko works fine.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks

Yes the kenko does NOT have the 2 power connectors and therefore is not compatible with SDM lenses and SDM cameras.

SDM lenses will be without power and so only behave as manual lenses.

Oh really? I'm thinking of getting this TC for use with my K10 and the manual lenses I have. I thought this TC converts a manual lens to AF lens.

Damn the Pentax Manual

Are you absolutely certain about this?

From pictures I've seen the Kenko 1.5x DG has the power contacts (as does my Tamron 1.4x AF TC) and reports from DA* users on pentaxforums.com say they have been able to use SDM/AF with only the usual challenge of losing 1 stop.

You can see the 2 gold power contacts on the inside (left) of the TC of this picture.

It would surprise me very much if this teleconverter does not have the 2 extra power contacts.

If you want the teleconverter to provide auto focus for manual lenses, I think the only one is the Pentax 1.7x AF teleconverter, if you can find (and afford) it.

Sam, thanks for the info. No, I don't think I can afford the Pentax TC nor can I find one either :(

I'm absolutely positive I'm 100% WRONG, was mixing in my head my sigma ,any converter with the words Pz on it of course will have power contacts.

Sorry

I have Kenko 1.5X and DA200mm & K100Super. All SDM and AF work with
zero issue at all . SDM * zoom may be a different story though

That would explain why I wrote

Sorry

My TC doesn't have the two golden contact, but my TC is an MC type and not SHQ type

Which type is your TC?

Mine is a MC type so I don't know if it is compatible with SDM lenses

If it doesn't have the gold power contacts, then it won't work with SDM. The lens has to get it's power for the SDM motor via those contacts.

Ciao

Marco

These are the 2 Kenko TC's that will work with SDM, the 2x one will need a minimum f2.8 lens for the AF,to work, the 1.5x will need a minimum f4.0 lens. The wine box doesn't work with SDM! ;-)

Even if the MC isn't SDM compatible, shouldn't it still be able to use the screw drive AF of the 16-50mm and 50-135mm?

Thank you
Russell

The box of my Tc is like the higher one. On the TC body there is this inscription: P/AF 1.5x TELEPLUS MC KENKO DG
