Last days of Spring ...

Had to return the camera because 95% of viewed images were coming up with excessive contrast around sky, water, etc. Hopefully the new one will be alright. Light colored objects were changing from white to gey to black and repeating. Very strange!

Jim.

Odd that you had that excessive contrast problem, so even a -1/3EC was not effective.

Hope your next one will be a good copy and better IQ.

This one is from the SD800IS yesterday
1/200s LandscapeMode f/10.0 at 9.1mm AutoISO75

Do post when you get the new camera....

Well then something was wrong in playback.

I don't recall seeing that happening unless the contrast was the the overexposure blinking to tell you it was overexposed shot/areas?

I have gone thru trial and error to find the right settings and then when I wasn't happy, I have already put the camera on reset and started all over. For now, I am happy with the exposure and colors.

Its the indoor shots that get me to fiddle more. :)

Have a great weekend and if you need any help let me know....
The problem only happened when viewing images in playback. Downloaded
images were fine.

Your little Elph takes great pics. Color and contrast are exceptional.

Hello Moris,
Hi Sueanne,
These photos are very good...
Thanks. :)

I am really just 'browsing' :)

I don't see many pictures from you but would you say the A650IS is a great improvement over your A610/620 with landscapes and people shots?

The LCD light leak and that the LCD doesn't fold 100% out - those are the little but big factors that hold me back.

Plus I haven't had a hands on with this camera and for all my cameras, I like to get a feel for it first.

I think Canon will come up with something new and exciting but at the same time, they could just come up with a slight upgrade that isn't worth it.

Its the TZ5 that I have been eying but no viewfinder is a negative with me.....

Anyways I don't need a new camera, but its a gift for someone. :)

I can't say that A650 is a big improvement from my old A610.
The better points that I see are:
bigger LCD
x6 zoom
IS
More pixels for cropping.
Better build quality.

The LCD opening angle is ok, it's not a problem. I don't see any light leak.

I don't see much difference in landscape and people photos. 200 and 400 ISO look better but I havent tested it much.

I think its evolution and not a revolution:)
I'm waiting to see what will the coming models bring....
