--Hey, I'm a Nikon shooter here. I just thought I'd help bridge the
"gap" between fanboys with the common ground of camera nerdiness, and
say that I'm pretty confident the 5D mk2 will MORE than give
whatever NIkon has coming a run for it's money.
Canon has always come out with a KILLER camera at a LOWER price point
that delivers where it counts- equal or superior image quality.
If the STUNNING 5D sensor is what, 4 years old? (by design) ...Just
imagine what they're cooking up NOW!
The only reason I prefer Nikon is because I started with Nikon and my
brain is hard-wired to love the controls. I've shot with Canon gear
a LOT, possibly more than some of you, having handled and sampled
everything from the D60 to the 1Ds mk2 and 1D mk3. I love Canon as
much as I love Nikon, I just HAPPEN to be a Nikon shooter.
Alright well, take care fellow camera geeks! Cheers to stiff
competition!

Cameras capable of making great photographs have become commonplace
these days, but photographers have not. While technical innovations
have made photography ever easier in recent decades, the art of
producing images that other people will care about has become even
more formidable.Galen Rowell
I may regret getting a dog in this fight but, agreed. This has made me wonder for quite some time. Despite the signature, which at first I thought was worthy, I have seen few posts from Cultured Vulture that actually follow his/her own advice. Many responses are unnecessarily rude and merely exacerbate ill will on these forums.Sorry? You need to update your signatureAnother moronic post.Competition is good. Without the D3, we may see a 1DMKIV that is
1.3x crop. Instead, we will probably see a Canon 1D that finally
adopts the full frame format.

Respond to rudeness with civility, it really annoys them.
"Respond to civility with rudeness" seems to be your real style.
EVERY new camera is relevant to the consumers of digital equipment.
Just because you dont like to hear that Nikon is coming out with a
camera why don't you find a site like "nikonians" for Canon users?
Oh thats right, they still announce and discuss Canon, Pentax, Sony,
olympus cameras on nikonians!
I really like the G9, I was going to buy one until I reviewed the low light capabilities, seemed ironic coming for Canon.I have a G9 as a carry everywhere camera. As good as it is I would
prefer it only had 8 or even 6 MP's with lower noise and better DR.
If so, I'd probably get a lot more use out of the camera.
--TEH Nikon is so awesomely cool, they're, like, the Apple of the
digital camera world!1 All their cameras should be encased in the
same shiny white plastic so I can be part of the fabulous Nikon
fanghey scene!!11 After all, the fankids of these two amazingly
innovative companies are the smartest, the most mature, the most
unbiased, the most logical and definitely the most stylish gadget
collectors in the whole wide universe!!!111eleventyhundredone They're
also the most self-secure and least annoying peeps I've ever met!1one

Well, how well is the D3 fairing against all the FF canon bodies? I think its been shown that a 12mp FF sensor has traction in the market.how will a Nikon FF medium cost camera
fair against the current 5D - now sold at a discount - and then
against a second generation 5DII - probably with a upgraded (?) 16MP
sensor,
Yes, Nikon has had a peculiar habit of “accidentally” slipping information out about a week or two before launch. The last couple were well hidden webpages that were “accidentally” turned on to the internet before the formal release. You could only get to them by typing in the direct address (no links to them from main Nikon pages) but it didn’t take long for the address to be known online.Hey
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the "accidently released"
half baked brochure trick as a teaser tactic has been used by Nikon
before? I think they did this with D70?
Yes, agreed. Although I shoot Nikon, advances from any camera company are welcomed. Competition builds the breed. It is amazing how so many people don’t understand that. They’d rather “their” camera be seen as the best, even if it means the next camera won’t be any better. At the same time, I want Canon to be heavily pressurized by as many
camera companies' marketing and R&D depts as possible
