Just to clarify, my Digilux is a US model, bought in Boston. the firmware is is version 1.0.

I'm asking you, if you have optio 230 in your hands? I'm buying a 2MP camera and don't know which could be better choice. I'm separate between canon a40 and pentax optio 230.
What's your opinion abouth them?

No, i've never experenced any of Pentax' digital products. I only have the Canon D60 and G2, and these are my first digital cameras.

I would, if i were you, also take a look at the Canon S30. It's received many positive user reviews (read them on this board), as well as a good review from Phil (on this board). The camera may not be in the type of form you're used to, though.

Sorry i couldn't be of more help. I would, though, really go through all of the User's ratings as well as Phil's reviews of the two models you mention. Then, make sure you've actually played with them a bit in a store before buying. Hands-on experience is very valuable.

Jesus, that's not encouraging. I was all set on the Digilux 1 till i saw these images. It's either the firmware, or some faulty lens coating.
