Remember the buzz generated when Sigma announced their new telephoto zoom, a 200-500mm f2.8 dubbed the Sigzilla. I saw it listed by B&H today for $24,999. It will be available in July for anyone interested.

I shot with this lens at PMA and picture quality is amazing even with 2x converter.

You would need cement tripod and couple of sherpas to handle it but again picture quality is one of the best I have seen.

The only time a smaller sensor with the same pixel count is superior to a larger sensor (aka higher pixel density) is when you are focal-length limited.

I'm going to wait a bit until they offer a mail in rebate on it.

As long as you leave it at my house after you are done. Deal?

People might actually be willing to buy one of those. I certainly would.

With the 2X TC, it's only 25% longer than Sigma's own 300-800, except that lens costs a mere $6500 (B&H) and weighs a mere 12 pounds.

You mean a concrete tripod?

Cement is a powdery material that hardens when hydrated. Concrete is the hardened structure normally composed of cement, gravel, sand, water and optionally additives/admixtures.

Most non-technical publications and laymen say cement when they mean concrete. Cement by itself has no practical structural use.

Just kidding Eugene..... concrete tech is my bread and butter.:)

looks way better and more durable than the 'furry' Zen paint currently on all of their EX lenses. Come on Sigma use 'splat' paint like the one Cano and Nikon use and I'll buy more EX lenses :)

Hmm, comes with a free car as it's carrying case...

I know you are kidding but how do you explain cement galoshes?
On the other hand hollow aluminum tripod legs filled with cement will work too.

CF tripod legs filled with cement might work. Aluminum reacts in a surprising manner with cement in the presence of moisture or water...try to place strips of aluminum foil in fresh concrete, and see what happens.... :)

who in there right mind would buy such a lens. Maybe some corporation might buy one but will B&H actually even stock this thing. I really doubt it. It will be special order only my bet. Seems to me someone at Sigma lost his marbles when coming up with this lens. 25K for it is crazy. I thought around 12 grand but 25 seems nuts to me. Let the nuts buy one, lol.

I am out to take the perfect picture, if it exits! :)

what do you expect from a 200-500 lens with a constant f stop of 2.8?

look at what the ef 800mm 5.6 costs, and guess how expensive it would be if it was 2.8!

the more light, the higher the price!!!
plus it has a 2x converter included, 400-1000 f5.6
