I have the Tamron 28-200, picked it up at Ritz a while back. Check online and you'll find reviews/tests. My experience bears them out: sharp at 28mm but gets fuzzy as you zoom, unless you keep it stopped down past f/8. I've taken some fine shots with it.

I got the A300 BODY ONLY for $579 from http://www.us1photo.com . Good people to buy from in my experience.

I also got the Tamron version of the 18-250 after first trying out the Sony version. I liked the manual focus ring/sensitivity better and the zoom grip -- otherwise they're equal in my eyes. (I agree with some who say the Sony focuses faster, but the difference is minimal for my needs.) I got the Tamron from B&H Photo for $479.

To me, they're a great combo for a wide range of photography needs. I also got a used Minolta 50mm f1.7 on ebay for about $100. Great for lower light.

Overall, that package is sharp, light, with minimal changes of lenses.

I've got A350 with SAL 18-250 and it is great lens, but together you might find this combination a bit bulky and heavy.Before you buy this combo I would advice you to go to the local shop and try it how it feels.
I also had Zenith many years ago - another great camera!
