The Dock :)

Beautiful! Nice shot! What beach? It looks so inviting! I wish I were there! I'm going to a beach in Florida in about a month. What lens camera exposure did you use?

thanks for posting!

I used Aperture Priority now I would recomend using a Neutral Density filter. So you can keep the sky and the and foregroud equally exposed but this can been done later. Now i shoot at F12-22 depending on the how dark it is so i can have a slow shutter speed to blur the water which gives it a ethereal effect. Shoot at the lowest ISO you can because longer exposures always have more noise in the shadows.

Sorry if you already know all this I don't want to insult you just a few tips I have learned by much trial and error :). O and for the lens.. I used a Canon 24-105 L @ 24mm

Beautiful shot Rick!

Nice shot great sky compared to ours in the UK.

I personally would have cropped it in to the base of the first plank, as I found the foreground very distracting.
Try it and let us know.
Happy shooting.

I am not understanding: if you use the lowest ISO possible, would that not cause longer exposures that would indeed harbor more noise in the shadows?

Beautiful pic. Thanks for sharing.

The composition looks just right to me.

most people love the image, but as one other put it, the composition is off.

I see unattractive 2x10's or whatever at the bottom of the frame that really ruin the image. Your composition should have removed them from what was captured. Because they are at the bottom of the frame and very close to the camera and being a wide angle, they become the largest objects in the frame and I'm sure 2x10's were not your main subjects. :)

I am pleased that some one else has the sense to finally agree with me that the composition is not right on this picture .
Yes pretty colours , but the composition is vital in the making a good photo.
Thank you RedFox 88.

..Composition is largely a matter of taste. I'm OK with the foreground of that shot and maybe the OP actually chose to leave those beams in the foreground because he liked them. To me C&C should address issues involving the technical quality of a photo....things like focus accuracy, appropriate DOF, etc. Composition is an artistry question that ought to be left alone because everyone's artistic vision is going to be at least a little bit different than the next guy's.
