Are they really that bad!

They're not bad at all! I like nrs. 4 and 7 best, although 4 may need a bit of D-lighting correction. Nr. 7 seems to have a strange color cast. Maybe WB was a bit of, but it turns out quite good; probably the best one in this series.

Maybe its just the monitor im viewing them on but the colours appear to me somewhat a little too unsaturated.

Hi Cyberwlf,

Thanks for your reply. I have printed these at A3 and to be honest I would not like the colours anymore saturated then they are so maybe it is your monitor? I was very happy with what came out of the printer but thanks for your input.

All the best

Yeah, it's entirely possible that it's my monitor, it's just a Dell D600 laptop monitor I use at work.

Great series, but most of the horizontals seem off (sloping down to the left) to me.
Shot 9 really shows the coastal erosion.

1 and 2 are nice but duplicates.

4,5,6,7 are duplicates and 7 has a really big color difference (from processing?!?!?).

8 bg is too busy and competes for my attention.

9,10 have specs on sensor.

11 needs straightening for horizon.

exposures are ok but mostly the pics are very static and kinda boring.

keep at it though

Number four was a nice shot but the exposure had me focusing on the brightness of the clouds because nothing in the foreground led my eye to the lighthouse. I made a correction in Photoshop doing two very simple things and it resonated a lot more for my taste. All I did was adjust "shadow/highlight" so the grass foreground had more light and the clouds in the background were toned down a bit. That led my eye from the foreground to the lighthouse.

Then I simply cropped so that the lighthouse was off center (rule of thirds) and not as much of the sky was included. I could post it if you want to see it :-)

My two cents is currently valued at a penny.

I think they're ALL wonderful! Great composition, color, saturation, contrast, etc.

And I LOVE the red windmill (the third image)!

I could make some assumptions, but if you don't mind my asking, which images were shot with the 180?

Thanks for viewing. Glad you liked them. I was beginning to think I'd got it very wrong! Only two images with the 180 and they are as below.

Excellent series Winter these are tempting me to book a holiday in
the summer (if we get one in the UK) to spend a week in Norfolk.

Have you posted these (reduced size compared to original) to:-

http://www.picturesofengland.com

They're the best I've seen of the Norfolk Broads...

Hi David,

Thanks for viewing. Glad you liked them. I can't promise good weather but you will certainly have lots of photo ops (as long as you don't find this sort of thing boring as some do!!)

Re posting size. I simply copy and paste the large size from flickr. It is reduced from the original and the only way I know how to do it!!??

Thanks again and best regards,

Mark (winter1)

I like them all ( except #7 the WB and focus seem a bit out).

As for the post that the horizontals are out I can't see that.

As for the saturation they are perfectly well saturated to me.

But for some on this forum they are lacking in skyscrapers I find they do get a bit boring after a while.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for responding, Mark.

I asked because I also have the 180 2.8, but hardly ever use it. In fact, though I've had it for about a year, I haven't used it enough to even know what it's really capable of.

I've heard (and seen some wonderful images) that it's great for outdoor people shots, but I see, by your photographs, that it works very nicely for landscapes, as well.

I think I might just attach it to my D300, and leave it on for a week or so, and see what I can do with it. :-)

Nice shooting Mark. The erosion at Happisburgh (Hayesborough!) is quite dramatic. Saw it last time I visited. I really like no. 11 at Horsey. I find it hard to frame anything up well here, it's all to angular or something, but you seem to have got it. The lighthouse at Happisburgh is wonderful. and no.3 with the fan of heavy cloud as a backdrop is for me a very strong image.

One of the posters mentioned dust on your sensor. I think you might need a little clean-up. E-mail me if I can help. I have done this before.

Returning to Norfolk later this month. More photos I hope.

Color cast in number 7 is something I see in quite a few of my D300 images.

Not sure what causes this.

Sky looks like it was shot. on a compact
