I've been using this software for some tome now and I really like how it works and how you can view and sort your images. My only problem is that periodically it will try to launch a "MSNUSERS" login dialog box. I'm pretty sure it is being launched by ViewNX because I only see that dialog box is when I launch ViewNX plus on the Task bar the ViewNX icon apprears on that task. Does anyone else get this box and how do I turn it off?

I am also looking for an answer as to why when I open up ViewNX it opens up the Windows Live ID box or msnusers??
It appears every time I open said software.

I was under the impression that this software was free and I never saw upon installing, a requirement to have a MSN,Hotmail Account??

Does ViewNX require the .Net framework? Perhaps that is where this dialog box is coming from . . .

Never seen anything like it using ViewNX, and there aren't any options that appear to call for an on-line connection. The "check for updates" menu option obviously requires an active Internet connection, but this wouldn't be expected to call for a log-in unless you had dial-up access and weren't online when you checked. (Correction--the Nikon Message Center, typically installed with all Nikon software, also needs an online connection. But again, wouldn't need a login unless you aren't online to begin with.)

Having said that, I occasionally run into programs that seem to trigger Internet Explorer to try to connect using dial-up even though I have a full-time DSL connection. (But only on my laptops that have dialup software installed for use away from home.)

I never had this popup. But, I use firefox.

Everything works fine except when I try to close ViewNX, it reports an error and wants to notify Microsoft. I reported this to Nikon about 2 months ago and the Incident has been open since then. They've finally decided that I must do a wipe and re-install of Windows. That's not gonna happen.

I have ViewNX installed on two desktops and one laptop. Same problem with all three machines.

Given it happens on multiple machines, that almost has to be a software compatibility issue of some kind. I have ViewNX on two [or maybe 3] machines and haven't seen that problem, although I had to give up using ToneUp S3 due to a similar problem that I never could solve--it actually crashed every time on 3 different machines, even though it had worked at one time.

I bit the bullet and wiped the laptop. Then I installed XP and updated it. Then I installed View and tested it. It works right. Now I will add all the software that is on the main machine and test ViewNX after each installation.

Nikon's position is that they aren't responsible for their software when it's on a machine that the operating system is not factory installed. Imagine if Microsoft or Wordperfect or Adobe or ......anyone else took that position. To me it means, "we can't figure out how to write the program right so we invested our time in writing this disclaimer."

Have anyone got a resolution for this? Mine have problem with Vista. But the ViewNX on my other machine running XP has not got this issue.

Any hints?

I would like to report that this problem was resolved by uninstalling an older version (1.0.3) of ViewNX, and then downloading and installing the latest version (version 1.1.0).

Happy me again, enjoying my D3.
