Cheap Grids.....

Please help me understand the difference in effect between the several grids and the snout. When do you use what and what is the effect you will see (using an off camera flash).

Thanks.

The grids will decrease the amount of light hitting the subject since it is sort of a course filter. It will "straighten" the light so to speak, but not block it. A snoot blocks the light everywhere but a narrow hole, but within that hole the intensity of the light is really just bare bulb.

I use black wrap instead of a snoot, since it's more versitile and can be moulded to any shape or size. However, if I were a pro I'd probably buy a snoot as well.

take care,

Chris

Cool, would like to see a pic of how you rig them up.
I took a pic using them for the homepage graphic, a close up of the 1/4" cells.
Any input of how to improve this pic would be great.
