Amazon L1 deal is back!

Thanks for the breakdown Godfrey. Perhaps my wording was wrong. I didn't mean anything by it, I just wasn't sure which lenses worked with the L1, or what kinds of costs were involved.

You're right in that the stock lens that comes with the L1 would prove most useful as that's the range I like to work in. Now if I could just come up with the funds. :-)

Thanks again for the info, and good shooting,
Otto...

I found that shooting L1 in RAW is a must...like with most of my other cameras. To state the obvious, the post-processing flexibility in unparalleled (I use Lightroom). Given proper development techniques, the image quality can be truly amazing. Cheers.

Hi,

I appreciate the comments and input. As far as what I do, right now I shoot a lot of pictures of grandchildren (the primary purpose). I shoot both available light and with a flash. The driving issue for getting a new camera are:

focus accuracy and - shutter delay

and

sharpness

dynamic range

I've never shot raw, and process in either photoshop elements (pics that I intend to share) or iphoto for my snapshots.

I picked up a Fuji S9100 but am not satisfied with focus accuracy and speed. Hence I'm stepping up. I've shot with Leica M's for years and have always loved the results. My film slr is a Nikon F5. So ... any additional comments are welcome.

Again, thanks for your help.

The Amazon deal isn't available anymore. I was able to snag a mint L1 from eBay for $850 which includes both the kit and extras. I consider that a bargain, considering the lens is more more than that and I'm practically getting the camera and the accessories for free! Something like this doesn't come along every day and there are still deals to be found. This is 60% off the original street price of $1800 just for the kit minus the accessories. Its my first DSLR purchase.

Hi Godfrey, you have 2 set of L1 and going for the third. Man -- need to hold your horses. I love the f 2.8 too. Guess it will,be a good long term investment.

cheers

I'm not sure what you mean, ric. I haven't posted on this thread since the end of january. No intention to buy a third L1 either ... next body in my kit will most likely be an Olympus E-3, but I don't intend to get rid of either the L1 or E-1 bodies.

Congrats, based on the photos of some L1 users you won't be disappointed.

Post some photos soon!

Hi Godfrey, I must be going nuts. I could have swear that I read on this thread earlier today that you were buying a third L1. I just check and for the life could not find the thread. Sorry. No idea what went wrong!

Anyway , good to stay in touch. So E3 is your next body. Should the best among the 4/3 format.
cheers
