I'm looking at the 70-200 F4L IS. Used prices are in the range of $950.00. New looks like around $1,025.00. I can't see why anyone would buy used when the price difference is so small. It seems to me that anything less than $200 difference isn't worth the hassle of buying used. What am I missing?

same here... A warranty plus it seems most used ones are missing the bag or hood...
Normally used is around $100 less than store price on FM as example. You could bargain and get free shipping and no fees as well, no tax too.

In British Columbia using your example, you would pay new $1025 plus taxes is $1148 versus $950 for the used lens, so a savings of roughly $200.

Not the best example, I've saved a good bit of coin by judiciously buying used, using a fairly new and very high quality lens, you wont see any real savings.
