My 14-150 OIS arrived today in its shiny silver box - and although there's not been any time to get out for any meaningful tests, I managed a few garden quick pics with it on my E330 (so I could get low among the flowers and use LV ..)

More tomorrow.
(lovely lens by the way .....!)

Looking good! Like Panasonic, you seem to be gravitating toward the telephoto end. Thanks for the samples.
More tomorrow.
Great. Thoughts on the usefulness of the OIS and the quality of the telephoto end in comparison to the kit 40-150 would also be appreciated. Cheers,

Rich,

the second and third are outstanding, and I like all. Seems to be a good lens, though it's a super-zoom.

I'd much appreciate to see some scenes farer away, if you'd be so kind.

Thanks, and good photographer, good gear!

All best,

Claus.

Very nice, Rich. Certainly looks like one of the better 10:1 zooms I've seen in terms of rendering qualities.

Love it. But all of them have a richness to them. Makes me what it.

You've just cost me several hundred pounds! lol

Well Done Rich, can't wait to see how it performs on the E-420 tomorrow...

Kind Regards

Hi Rich,

Thanks for posting those nice pictures. You are really fast and your pictures look promising. For optimum pixel peeping, would it be possible to take a few pictures with plenty of detail and post these pictures as 1024 x 768? Fort his purpouse I usually take pictures of streets or markets.

And I am also very curious about the effect of IS in connection with the E-330 at very slow shutter speeds.

Thanks and kind regards, Herbert

Hi Mike

So far, I haven't been anything other than very impressed with this lens.

I deliberately put it on the E330 rather than my E3 as I see it being a great lightweight all round solution in a single walk-around package, and at last of high quality and Leica colour!

The Leica OIS lenses use a single ON/OFF switch, and that produces a rock solid stabilised image in the viewfinder or on the LCD in Live View Mode A. At waist level, using the strap as a brace, I'm getting very sharp results at low shutter speeds. Haven't had time to check these thoroughly, but I will do.

I'll also take some pics of the 14-150 on the E3, the E1 and the E330, so the relative size of it can be seen in context. Its a solid lens, but not excessively heavy. Same filter dia as the 12-60.

So far, no CA problems, but the main thing I see is sharpness, combined with the richness and depth of colour one associates with Leica, the same as I see in Leica R primes.

Some more pics taken this evening going on now

And tomorrow its off to the Peaks for some landscape exercise in the hills of Derbyshire!

Some more taken this evening at a car club meet, using the 14-150 on the E330.
Lowish light, and I needed a decent DOF to capture the detail across the cars.

So these are mostly f8-f10 - all RAW

This one of the dog was taken in JPG, but in with -1 contrast. Colours are accurate and rich. No blown highlights and the shadow detail is there as well.

Awesome - you can see the quality of the glass. Photography's not bad either ;)

Hi Spolky!

I'm very impressed with the glass as well - its a great deal of $$$ (or £££) to pay out, so I think its a good exercise for others to see the lens used in all sorts of cicumstances. (I'm not a regular flower pic person really...!)

Its also a reminder of how good the 'ol E330 is!

And I'm indebted to one poster who pointed me to an eBay seller offering this for £690 in the UK. Otherwise I'd have been looking to the Panny US site and then $1200.

I think you're right - this lens has Leica quality written all over it, and at last a wide ranging lens that will produce top quality results for 4/3 users. What a difference from the Nikon 18-200 VR ....!

Hi Herbert,

I'm planning to spend tomorrow afternoon with Brian Mosley up in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. So plenty of opportunity for landcapes with lots of detail as well as people shots!

Lets see how versatile this little lens is!

I'm happy to size the next bunch larger especially of street stuff, where I shoot a lot as well. I'll see how low we can get with the E330 and the OIS system.
