I was wondering out of enjoyment if you could post your XSi pics. Also, if you could post your lens that you used, that woud help out me, and probably others, at seeing other lens/quality a bit.

If you could just follow these two rules it would be really handy in thread view...

If no one has posted a pic with you lens reply to THIS post titling you reply with the lens name

If someone has posted a pic with the same lens you used, reply to the LATEST post with that lens

Thanks,
Ben

All your pictures are very good but the one with the squirrel seemed slightly over sharpened but nice job.

First dSLR, its been a blast browsing these forums and learning as much as I can about the various camera functions and what they can do. The XSi has been nothing short of amazing especially for my purposes.

I have had the camera for 3 weeks now but I've already got the itch to pick up a Canon 17-55 f2.8. I have to blame you guys on the forum for making me want to upgrade so soon as I was originally planning on playing with the kit lens a LOT longer.

Most of these shots were made with a Canon 300 F2.8 with a Canon 2X tc with it.

The Owl shot was the 300 f2.8 alone, the tulip was taken with a Canon 28-105. (not the 24-105L) no typo was made.

This was in the studio with the 18-55is Kit lens. ISO 800, wide open, ambient light.
Not the best shot showing what the kit lens can do, but with a little more
depth of field, this would have been very good.

Maybe I got lucky, but the camera and lens that I received are top notch.

A rose by any other name is still a chicken.

There are some 100% size images here (out of camera jpegs only, in camera sharpening two clicks up from the default, mostly aperture priority, some in landscape-style and others standard-style):

Just test shots - nothing creative - seem OK to me. Let me know if the camera/lens seems sub-par on what it should be.

Trying a DSLR for the first time. Not 100% sold on it yet. Narrow DOF can actually be a real pain. The fast auto focus is not always getting the most out of the kit lens and sometimes seems to lose the plot. And being big and unwieldy means I miss shots because the camera is not easily on hand. What with having to reset to fix the front-focusing issue; already having to take to my sensor with a blower to remove a large stuck dust spec; and today an ERR 99 lockup - I need to somehow regain some trust in this camera. I will persist for at least 6 months and see if it grows on me.

Is there a slot canyon in Utah or are your pictures from the Antelope Canyon, AZ and Zion, UT?
Very nice pictures all of them.

There are many slot canyons in Utah. Some of my pictures are from those, some from Antelope Canyon, Arizona.

These are from Antelope Canyon, AZ:

These are from inside the Zion, Utah park:

These are from just outside Zion, Utah near the Mt. Carmel Junction:

And I really want to go to the Subway Cave in Zion, Utah. Here's a link to more info on slot canyons in Zion, Utah:
