It is quite possible to shoot only scenes that will not provoke the issue.
That is what many do by now ... twg for example, posts mostly images that
are close ups with a lot of mid toned colours....

I remembered Kim had said abt this (since he mentioned my alias) but shooting wildlife and closeup is really my hobby and frankly it is not my intention to shoot only this subject and post in this forum and to 'hide' the "issue"....

Here again I shoot wildlife (actually they are not wild but domestics) at one of the pond in the park and they are ducks, geese and peacock.

see the tortoise trying to 'attack' the duck...

standing on one foot

The peacock's turning away...

and spreading (taken with tcon17)

really really gorgeous!!!

The shot is like a painting. The turtle sneaking up on the duck reminds me off the nasty snappers that prey on the baby ducklings at the pond at work, we are constantly trapping the buggers and relocating them, its like they drop from the sky at night...

A super set!!

I really do not think that Kim was suggesting you were trying to hide the issue, I think more that he was pointing out that the type of shots you typically take are ones that do not show the issue as pronounced as others. None the less its a fab camera and I would love to have on if only I did not already have too many!!

There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself,

... Really nice images.

No parks or ponds around here but there is a Mangrove swamp which has a lot of Kingfishers. If I get a chance, I'll get down there soon and see what I can get.

Great shots,
So the Tcon 17 fits the s100f then?, I have one and was wondering if it would.
cheers

Tony, I went and look at your fuji_s100fs_tcon17_birds gallery, those bird shots are really so amazing and so wonderful. Did you use a tripod or are they all handheld shots? Thanks.

Michael
Of course tcon17 fits s100fs, more than okay.

Please visit my gallery regarding the pictures which I shot with
s100fs+tcon17 :

nice gallery!

That 0892a has to be one of the wierdest birds I've seen. Looks like a bird waded into a neck hole on another bird. What's with that one??

Oh and I forgot to ask 2 questions

a) were you exposing manually or possibly exposing on the birds and half pressing the shutter to lock in that exposure, then recomposing?

The reason I ask is that the birds are so well exposed but almost every apple seems blown out a bit, so just thought I'd ask. Do you think using expanded dynamic range would have pulled the apples more?

b) looking at that tcon when the zoom is extended on the fuji makes me wonder if that added weight could damage the lens mechanism. Does it feel solid enough to not worry about that? Would you use that on a tripod with the lens zoomed and unsupported?

I have an s100fs on order as well as a .50 wide angle adaptor with a 67m thread and I'm hoping that won't burden the lens. So ...I'd appreciate your feedback on this.

Thanks Michael. All were handheld but I needed to lean on something such as fence, etc to keep myself steady.

hi jj, many thanks for your viewing and message.

The reason I ask is that the birds are so well exposed but almost
every apple seems blown out a bit, so just thought I'd ask. Do you
think using expanded dynamic range would have pulled the apples more?
I focused on the bird and believed the exposure was locked at the same time.

The apple was blown out most likely the sunlight was too strong on it. I used Velvia mode so I could not adjust the DR at will.

ps The apple was blown out not only happened in my shots but also at some others which were taken with very decent DSLR camera on that day.
b) looking at that tcon when the zoom is extended on the fuji makes
me wonder if that added weight could damage the lens mechanism. Does

This is a frequently asked question and I admit this is the most concern to all people who do not have a tcon and a s100fs to play with. Let me give you some confidence - they are just fine and okay. You will feel them solid as soon as the tcon is attahced. If you see my moonshots just posted; I attahced it with the raynox 2020pro and mounted them on the tripod without other support and...they are just doing fine!

I had a wcon07 and sorry it won't work as dark corners are very apparent.
