Wondering just how many A700s Best Buy sold to those of us here in the forums, specifically in the last few days since they discontinued carrying the camera.

List your city/state/country and how much the FINAL cost was on your A700, inluding tax, and if more than one, how many you bought.

I got TWO in Mesquite, Texas, USA for $818.36 each

I got one today at Orange County, CA ~ $815. But I am not sure if I will keep it since I was looking for the one with live view and tilting lcd (A300 or A350). Can someone please convince me to keep the A700 :)?

I suggest you convince yourself. Starting using the a700 a lot. Once you get used to the large screen, big and bright viewfinder, high ISO performance, and the fast bursts, I suspect the a300 and a350 will not seem as attractive as they do now. It just depends on how much you value the live view and titling LCD compared to the a700 features. Personally, I much prefer the sensor in the a700. I'll take CMOS over CCD anyday.

Get comfortable with the a700, and you will likely not want to trade it for any of the lower models.

I just got back to Seattle with mine and am waiting for the battery to charge up. LarryMcArdle, thanks for calling all the western Washington BB's for me. I had looked at the BB web site just before the A700 was removed and the only store that listed one in stock in Washington or Oregon was the Clackamas store, so I took a gamble and drove there this morning hoping karma was on my side. I arrived about 10 minutes early for the store opening and was positive that everyone waiting out front was there to buy a A700 for $839.99. Thaknfully, all those people went elsewhere in the store when the doors opened. I got the last one except for the floor model, but it did have the body cap on and even the flash shoe protector was still there.

Yes, it's a 6 hour round trip, but I saved about $40 in sales tax. And no, the two clerks I was dealing with would not accept the 10% off coupon.

Still, one great price, and I'll have rewards points to spend on more memory.

I picked up one in Ames, IA (USA) and paid $839.

4/13 paid 1099 in San Luis Obipso, CA. Got 260 + tax of 20 refunded for final price of 839 without the tax. And got the warranty.

Purchased one in Princeton, NJ on 4/24 for $839.99 + 7% NJ sales tax totaling around $898. I also had $90 in BB gift cards so my final cost with tax was around $808.

Always learning.

I snapped up the 4-year warranty with accidental damage for $139.

It's basically a bullet-proof A700 for 4 years. If I drop it and it smashes into many little pieces in 3 years, Best Buy will replace it with a camera that doesn't even exist yet.

How can you pass up that deal??

They only carry Canon and nikon. At least on display in the store. They used to carry the a100 over a year ago.

I bought my today at Cambridge, Mass Best Buy for $839 and the clerk let me use her BB coupon for -10% since I'm a BB Rewards member for camera cost of $755.99 + $37.80 tax so I bought the 4 year protection plan at $139 for total cost of $933.78!

Since my A100 was repaired twice by BB & Sony (my fault!) since purchase 9/2006 for cost of $0.00 and heavy use traveling around USA & Sicily, a no brainer for me.

FWIW, they seem to have several more there and no problem getting one.

Thanks

i was deciding whether to upgrade my a100 to an a300 because of the live view and faster AF and proper exposure. because of the insanely low price of the a700, it wa a no brainer for me. i purchased mine at the new best buy at the tustin district in orange county. w/ tax, i paid $815 which is only about $115 more than an a300. just couldn't pass up on that price for such a good camera. decided, later i can get an a300 as a back up. =)
