Hong Kong deals

Good bought in HK are under "Canon HK" warranty policies. This will not apply if you are out of HK, I think there might be a confusion here.

There is an auction for a D60 in HK, in the go2hk.com website, the seller is also a member of this forum. Just do a search under Canon and you will find it, this auction site is in Chinese....

Grey market imports from Japan are available for immediate
delivery. I think the price woud only be very slightly cheaper
though.
many thanks guys
Just got into HK and spent a whole day looking at lenses, etc.

Good deals, Amigo, lots of them.

Battery grip, hand strap, cheap, cheap, plenty of stock. 16-35,
100-400, cheap, cheap, happy, happy....

However, some of the sales people are really jerks. And remember
once you paid, that is IT! Don't even think about exchange or
refund. So be very careful before you pull out your wallet.

The other day, I went to the shop and tried both the Canon 2x and Kenko 2x on my 70-200L IS. Autofocus seemed a bit faster for the Canon. I would say the image qualities of both converters are quite similar. Though Kenko 2x has a very good price (less than half of Canon 2x), I eventually went for the Canon 2x.

As for stacking, I think you can stack the Canon 2x II and 1.4x II together. (read the thread in http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=001IjR )

Adam
I wanted to get both the 1.4X and 2X with the below combinations:

1.4X Kenko + 2X Canon or 1.4X II Canon + Kenko 2X

The above will allow me to stack them together, but getting both
1.4XII + 2X Canon will not allow any stacking.

Any advise?

Adam,

Can you tell me which shop in HK you went to buy the Canon 2x and what price you paid?

Thanks,

LW

Alex, you mentioned that someone is selling 2nd handed D30 at
7k-8k, please let me know where I can get the deal. I am also from
Hong Kong.
It is told by other netfriends, I have not seen a second handed
D30. If I can find , I tell you.

Nice to meet you here.
Nice to meet you, too. Actually, there are lots of HK ppl reading
this site. You may contact me at my email address if you see one.
Thx.

I can confirm your understanding. All DSLR warranty is valid in HK and Macau. I would like to see how the international warranty card looks like.

Actually , HK is changing , I can see that many of the shops start to allow customer to test before buy.... but need time for the change....
With a population over 6mill and the world's most avid consumers,
HK better offer the service soon or they will lose many to the US
houses. The world is getting smaller. these guys better smarten
up soon.
Usually in HK there will be NO test before buying those expensive
product. And since HK people always like to buy 100% new and must
new out of the box product. They afraid you will test and not going
to buy the lens. So, they need to confirm you are at least agree
with the price.

I agree with alexhk,

times before shop owners wouldn't dare allow you to try before you buy but since the trend here in HK now is changing to be more polite and to be more customer friendly, it will still be awhile before you see somewhat even service standards.

But the key is, "No Try" "No Buy"

Surely picture quality is going to go down tubes, stacking those together, even on an L lens?

Went to try and get the Mindstor, but apparently it's all sold out. The guy at the shop recommended the PCX-370 storage device instead. It comes in 10G or 20G versions. Price is US$275 and $371 respectively. Does any know if this is any good?

Thanks
It's selling in DcWorld in both Wanchai and Mongkok.
I'm not sure about the price. Their homepage is: http://www.dcworld.com.hk
You can find their no. and maybe even the price!

will someone please check this out for me?
And are there still D30 body's available and for what price? I'm
thinking of buying a second body.
There is one shop selling Sigma lenses, the name of the shop is
"Holiwood AV Center" .... not sure the name.... more or less like
that. You can go there by MTR and exit from E2 Exit (Bank Center
Exit). When you see the Body Shop and turn to the right and walk
around 2-3 min and the shop is there.
But beware that the shop is marked as "Black Shop" by some people.
But it will be ok if you carefully check the parts and the warranty
card etc...
