D200 in the Bahamas

Some good shots with a wide variety of scenes.

I like the shot of the mooring ropes. Heck what are they made of?

The third shot is my favorite. Nice mood.

Please tell me that the vignetting at f/5 is not as bad as it appears in the 4th image. You must have added a vignette as part of your PP?

thanks! It's fake HDR. I opened and tone mapped the raw image in photomatrix and then did a bit more pp in CS3.

Not to worry, no vignetting at all. I added it during pp.
Thanks for looking!

Love the shots.

Thank-you for reminding me of a memorable trip to Nassau in '01; I recognize the 'Straw Market' shot.

We're in the snow here so your photos helped take the chill off!!!!

Despite my oogling the young ladies in frame 2 I have to say the first shot is a killer. Has a modern day Norman Rockwell feel to it. And to think so many folks are spending major $$ to upgrade because the 100% crops of newer cameras tell them too.

Nice but ouch.... too much PP over here !
I admit shadow/highlight features may require some struggling to look naturals.

Can you elaborate on the first two?
sure. I shot both of them with the D200 and my Nikkor 24-70 (great lens btw). Both shot at f5.6, ISO 160 (sun kept going behind the clouds and I wanted to keep shutter speed fast enough to capture the action of the diver). I post processed with CS3 and used a touch of lucis art plugin to give just a slightly gritty look to the images. It's purely a matter of taste, and of course some don't like that look.

thanks for looking.
