Nice capture Hugo, and the colours also great IMO. Looks like you
having fun with your new cam.
BTW you looked great at the e-zone magazine ;-)

Thank you my friend!!!

Oh, Danny also told me that but I have yet to get a copy of the latest e-zone... BTW, I (and Danny, I trust) envy you your recent opportunity to shoot pretty models.:-)

See you later.:-)

Glad you liked this one too. I wasn't too sure if such low light shot could actually be taken at a low ISO, but I decided to give its spot metering a try... it worked surprisingly well – exposing for the bright area / highlights, I didn't even have to adjust EV...

Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Hugo

Another brilliant photo!

I was wondering if you have tried the Richo GX100. I thought it might
suit your style of wide angle photography.

After much deliberation I bought one yesterday and have been very
happy with its performance so far.

All the best!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving all the wonderful words!!

(PS. The GX100 certainly looks interesting. I would have got one if its noise performance was better.)

Best regards,
Hugo

I usually buy some fruits back home after work, because the kids eat a lot and they are heavy, my wife will appreciate if I buy some home. When the kids were small I also brought some candies home at the request over the phone (yes, I usually received order from them of what to buy before leaving the office).
I'm still very interested in a full frame dSLR.:-)
Yes, the D3 is unforgettable. Imagine a D3 + fast lenses.

Hugo and Danny, I know you too are also using DSLR's but I couldn't find the pictures that you posted in this or other forums...(??)

Like to share...??
Nice capture!

It is always nice to have a P & S around us. We never know what will
happen next.

So your S5 Pro is now mainly for weekends. I guess if you upgrade to
D3, it will be mainly for Year End:p I only took my DSLR to work for
several times, mainly month ends since last August:p

Hi Hugo,

So we will find fruit in the light at the end of the tunnel? - can't complain about that :o)

A very nice capture! I guess spot metering was used?

So, does the F100 bring back the 'hit & miss' days of the F10, or is there more scope to what you can do (without the manual controls)?

So, I hear something about a magazine article about you? Have you started signing autographs yet? Just kidding :o) Do they have an online version of the aricle?

My new computer arrived this weekend (at last), and I should be up and processing again soon...

Take care,

Ian

Hi Hugo,

So we will find fruit in the light at the end of the tunnel? - can't

Yes, spot metering was used... it seems to work pretty well under contrasting brightness conditions like this one (the highlights being the subject matter)... simply expose for the highlights (EV from -1/3 to 1/3, EV 0 in most cases), and desirable results can be attained consistently.
So, does the F100 bring back the 'hit & miss' days of the F10, or is
there more scope to what you can do (without the manual controls)?
Yes, you're exactly right - the F100 does bring back the feeling of shooting with an F10! The good thing is I can concentrate more on composition, lighting, etc., rather than worrying about all the manual settings, but on the other hand, I really don't like losing control over shutter speed (to achieve the exact sense of motion I'm after, for instance)... But to be fair, the F100 is quite an improvement as compared with the F10 - the infamous PF and "blown highlights" are being tackled satisfactorily, and the 28mm wide angle and a decent IS are just fun to use...
So, I hear something about a magazine article about you? Have you
started signing autographs yet? Just kidding :o) Do they have an
online version of the aricle?
I'm afraid I couldn't find an online version of the article for you, though the magazine did send me some pics (artwork) of the event.:-)

It's such a wonderful experience to share my thoughts and feelings with these lovely and enthusiastic photo lovers. Except one or two friends, all were in fact strangers but having a common interest to share and a common "language" to communicate, we were feeling so close and warm...

Can't wait to see some pics from you. It's been a while. Really.:-)

I did post some dSLR pics on the SLR fora (Fuji SLR and Nikon D80/D70... but that's a while ago). If you're interested, my recent s5 Pro favorite pics can be found (a little scattered) here:

Great pic, I really like this one, Hugo! The contrast between the surrounding darkness and the lone man sitting among the bright colors definitely works

Great photo Hugo!

I particularly liked the deep shadow framing on this one.

I read your answer to Ian Smith and was delighted to see the photo of your event with Fuji and it was nice to put a face to the name at last. I hope you had fun and it's great to see you getting some of the recognition you so richly deserve!

Best wishes,

Ian

Thanks so much for the nice compliment!!!

This is definitely one of my recent favs... It presents essentially the same image that I "saw in my mind's eye"... not just the sight but also the feeling. I still recall how excited I was when I found the scene - the subject, lighting, forms, composition, etc. were all there and all I needed to do was to get the exposure right and hold the camera steady enough to avoid blur.:-)

All the best,
Hugo

Yes, your right. The subject is strong but the "frame" is almost essential to make this worth photographing...

It was a wonderful afternoon... I still couldn't believe my pics would be so warmly received... though I kept wondering how many people were actually disillusioned when they found that I looked more like a tired old businessman.:-)
Thanks and best regards,
Hugo

I am newbie in DSLR pictures taking. So far I took about 2500+ shots, mostly portraits of my family (just took 40+ of my elder son) and pictures of friends and families getherings (very time consuming, because afterwards, I either have to send them via emails or made DVD copies).

So I do not have much posted (DSLR too heavy, seldom took it to work). I did posted some here and in different forums. Some, I had even forgotten my password and user names, mainly the local forums.

I will most likely post some in the Sample and Galleries in the future.

You can find some of my K100D Super Pictures in my photobuckets gallery, under the K100D folder.

BTW, I had viewed your galleries 2 weeks before, very nice, a lot to learn from you, especially, those you took in Europe?

I'm well apart from a sore hip - I fell heavily from my bicycle last October and I am finding it quite uncomfortable still.
However it hasn't stopped my tremendous enjoyment of photography.

I see your pix from time to time and most are quite artistic.

I still use my S9500 and E-900 - the E-900 being a superb unit. My wife and I both sport Olympus E-510 dslr - another very good camera with the twin lens kit. I see in some forums an E-520 may be announced soon - gosh don't the camera models change quickly.

I must say I very pleased with the F100fd - I have used it mainly in daylight. The nightime images I need to work on more.

All the best and see you around.

Regards. Barr1e
