Just got into HK and spent a whole day looking at lenses, etc.

Good deals, Amigo, lots of them.

Battery grip, hand strap, cheap, cheap, plenty of stock. 16-35, 100-400, cheap, cheap, happy, happy....

However, some of the sales people are really jerks. And remember once you paid, that is IT! Don't even think about exchange or refund. So be very careful before you pull out your wallet.

Here are some prices in HK, I was just in Mong Kok another good place to shop for camera stuff:

Canon Battery Grip for D30/D60: $1,250HKD or $160 USD
Canon Battery Grip Strap (E1): $160HKD or $20.00 USD
Canon BP511 Battery: $490HKD or $63.00 USD
EF 16-35 L F2.8 Lens: $10,000HKD or $1,300 USD

Not what type of prices are in the US but I would imagine comparable, of course all of these items are with full Canon HK warranty, if you go and find gray market items they will be cheaper. If others are looking for other items and prices please let me know, I can find out pretty quickly. take care guys.

Hi Chris,

The one I saw yesterday was priced at $35,500 HKD or $4,551 USD, it was in the window of a shop I was buying my battery grip, UV Filter, and battery grip strap. I think this price is cheaper than the US.

Jimmy,

I am still in HK.

Where can I find the above and at what pricing?

Thank you.

I am also interested in a Sigma 50-500 but can't seem to find any in Mongkok. Do you know where I can get them here in HK & pricing?

I think I will blow my Visa/Master/or whatever this time for sure :)

Hi Joe,

In Mong kok I only go to 2 places. 1) Man Shing G/F106 Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok. Tel 2396 2996 or Wing Shing G/F 55-57 Sai Yeung Choi St, Mong Kok Tel: 2396 6886 exit D3 on MTR Station Mong Kok.

The prices are from Man Shing, but I am not too sure about the Sigma lenses, I didn't see them in Man Shing or Wing Shing. I will try to check to see where you can find Sigma stuff.

Don't overdue it with you Visa/Master, :-)

There is one shop selling Sigma lenses, the name of the shop is "Holiwood AV Center" .... not sure the name.... more or less like that. You can go there by MTR and exit from E2 Exit (Bank Center Exit). When you see the Body Shop and turn to the right and walk around 2-3 min and the shop is there.

But beware that the shop is marked as "Black Shop" by some people. But it will be ok if you carefully check the parts and the warranty card etc...

I will be leaving in the summer for HK. Now in the Netherlands where i live the CF-cards are pretty expensive 150 euro(130 USD) for a 256mb card. I'm planning to buy the cards in HK since they will be used there, but will they be cheaper in HK?

will someone please check this out for me?

And are there still D30 body's available and for what price? I'm thinking of buying a second body.

Hi, Alex,

I was there yesterday. They wanted US$850 for the Sigma 50-500 and the jerk didn't want to show me the lens and just kept telling me theirs was brand new, others were used, etc..etc..

So I said 'either you show me the lens or I am going to walk' and he said we had to agree on a price and if the lens was a brand new good lens then I would have to take it.

I just walked out.

Hi wiet4free,

The price in the Netherlands is pretty expensive, maybe you can consider the IBM 1 Gig microdrive, it is about $400-450 USD, it comes with the PCMCIA adapter. Since using the D60 I wouldn't go with anything lower.
As for the D30's I haven't seen any around but will keep my eyes posted.

I got a couple of bags and some filters, angle finder C for HK$1200, 1.4X II for HK$2400.

Meanwhile, I am checking around for more prices but couldn't seem to get straight answers on the phone. I am leaving tomorrow noon so I got only the morning left to shop till u drop...

It is really difficult to get around when you don't know the place.

I think the price for 256MB CF cards are around HK$650 to $700 for OEM product. And the prices are almost fixed....since they are very cheap already. I recently got one Eagle Tech 265MB CF at $650 in Golden Computer Center. It is Hitachi OEM and surely it usees Hitachi controller chipset. Other brand e.g. HTL is good but try not to buy PQI card. It is very bad in QC.

Not that difficult to find 512MB CF in HK. But they are TOO EXPENSIVE!! HKD 1900 for one. Enough to get 3x256CF cards.
