It's already after 10 when I finished my work one recent Friday night; and as I trudged past the Wanchai Market, where I didn't expect to see any activities at all, I was drawn to some colourful lights in the midst of darkness...

(PS. Handheld, ISO200, Spot metering... exif info should be intact.)

Best regards
Hugo

Nice shot. Is it straight from the camera? Did you do any bracketing?

I don't see anything in the exif about dynamic range. Is it normal or extended? There is a bit of shadow detail, but a bit more might make a more dynamic (pun intended) photo.

Beautifully done my friend. I couldn't hold a camera that steady without leaning up against something very solid. lol You have made good use of this camera. Maybe one day soon, Fuji will release a worthy replacement of the F30/31 with full manual controls. Time will tell. Thank you for sharing.

Best regards to you and your family,
Mike

It was taken on the night before that Saturday seminar, if I remember correctly.:-)

(PS. When I was drawn to the scene, I really wished I still had the s100 with me... )

Happy shooting!

Hugo

It was processed... and as far as I recall, I didn't try any bracketing - I selected "spot metering" and exposed for the bright area... the camera was set at "automatic dynamic range".

Thanks for the warm words Mike!:-)

IMO, the F100 doesn't have the superb high ISOs of the F30/31; fortunately, a decent IS system has brought back a 1-2 stops advantage... Yes, I also miss the full manual controls very much, especially the shutter speed control!

Best regards to you and yours,
Hugo

Cheers!

R.Ribeiro.........[Ô]..........!
The low to mid ISOs of the F100 keep impressing me; in particular they help it handle contrasting brightness noticeably better than the previous F-series... This was quite a tricky shot (the highlights could be blown easily) and I'm really pleased that it came out fine.:-)

Thanks and best regards,
Hugo

Nice capture!

It is always nice to have a P & S around us. We never know what will happen next.

So your S5 Pro is now mainly for weekends. I guess if you upgrade to D3, it will be mainly for Year End:p I only took my DSLR to work for several times, mainly month ends since last August:p

I have to agree it is a great shot and both you and the camera have created a superb image.

I purchased one this morning and seeing some of your recent pix confirms my choice.

Hi Hugo

Another brilliant photo!

I was wondering if you have tried the Richo GX100. I thought it might suit your style of wide angle photography.

After much deliberation I bought one yesterday and have been very happy with its performance so far.

All the best!

Oh Danny, Stop pulling my leg my friend... but have to be frank, first, I didn't buy any fruits that night. Second, I haven't shot with the s5 for some weekends, since I got this little F100 allowing me to shoot from 28-140mm... But that said, I'm still very interested in a full frame dSLR.:-)

Have a nice day!

It's great to hear from you! Thanks for the wonderfully kind words.:-)

I trust you'll enjoy you new toy. It's quite an all-rounder... a better daylight camera than the early F-series and the zoom range is just great!:-)

Happy shooting!:-)
