I have vacillated a long time about moving over to the D300 from my Pentax k10D. I also have considered other brands and have posted on forums looking for advice and etc. Until I saw these pictures I really wasn't convinced. Most of the still shots from whatever camera looked good. But, I have seen nothing that compares with these rodeo shots. I'v e got the cash for the body, but don't ant to waste a great camera with a substandard lens...so I may have to go to a decent good 3rd party walk around lens until I can afford some Nikkor glass. Again, great work.

Thanks for using your discretion, while observing all the other forum rules, and sharing these excellent examples of what our famed camera can do. That's what this board is all about. Nice work.

Sounds like the dude was OK-man, I winced when I saw how he landed on his neck. You have to be one tough hombre to get on the back of a mad bull.

All shots D300+24-70 / Aperture Priority at f4.5 / 1/5000-1/6400 /
shot RAW, converted with Aperture 2.1
Thanks for a gander at such a spectacular action series. Like others have said, "YOU NAILED IT!!!". Gotta say that you have some guts being 20 feet from any mad bull. Hopefully you have a spotter to cover you while you're getting the shot.

What were your camera focus settings (AFC on?, Focus Points?, etc?) to keep all that action so well in focus at 7fps?
I checked out the first hundred pages of your gallery and enjoyed it a lot. Your other rodeo pictures are great too, especially the grainy film b/w ones. Really sets them apart from the norm. The eastern state penitentiary series was awesome too.
