I have absolutely no intention of going into the wedding photography business unless I can find clients who do NOT want formal shots and who don't mind me missing things like the cutting of the cake just to take an artsy photo of some coffee cups in the corner.

But when my friends (who claim to like my "style," whatever that means) ask me and a fellow Pentaxian to stand in for the place of a real photographer, I'm terrible at saying no.

Below are my favorite shots taken at their wedding this weekend. All taken with either the K200D or K100D, hand-held, no flash.

Set #1: Color

"Bridesmaids"
K100D, FA 31mm, f/1.8, 1/750th, ISO 1600

"Flowergirls"
K100D, FA 31mm, f/1.8, 1/60th, ISO 1600

"First Dance"
K100D, FA 31mm, f/1.8, 1/350th, ISO 800

Set #2: Sepia-ish

"Laces"
K200D, FA 43mm, f/1.9, 1/320th, ISO 1600

"I Was Here"
K200D, DA 70mm, f/2.8, 1/13th, ISO 1600

"A Groomsman"
K100D, FA 31mm, f/1.8, 1/30th, ISO 800

Set #3: Black & White

"The Cake"
K200D, D-FA 100mm, f/2.8, 1/60th, ISO 1250

"In Step"
K100D, FA 31mm, f/1.8, 1/45th, ISO 3200

"With Friends Like These..."
K200D, FA 43mm, f/1.9, 1/320th, ISO 1600

Well when I get married I'd want someone with your skill and amazing eye taking the photos. I love every single one of them - you have such a good mood about them all. I especially love the ones of the flower girls and the first dance. Though mind you, they are all so fantastic!

I love soft natural light and you have done a fine job with it.
I'm no Pro shooter either but I know what I like.
The happy couple should be very pleased with those.

If at first you don't succeed don't try sky diving.

Fabulous photographs. Any newly-wed couple would be delighted.
I have absolutely no intention of going into the wedding photography
business ...
You are missing out on a potential goldmine. Put those pictures out and about as a portfolio (with the couple's permission of course), and you could well be deluged with offers.

Thanks, everyone! I honestly think I prefer attending a wedding as a photographer than as a bridesmaid :)

As for the PP question, these shots range from absolutely none ("The Bridesmaids") to a lot of tweaking ("A Groomsman"). The later it got, the harder it was to get the shots I wanted. My EXIF data indicates that "A Groomsman" was taken at 7:36pm, and sunset was at 7:54pm that day. I had to do a lot with the color channels and fill light.

All processing was done in Adobe Lightroom.

All I can say is brilliant work, Keitha!!

"Flowergirls" is my favourite as it is such a great composition and well executed and well thought up.

"First Dance" is well done, another great composition.

"Groomsman" is excellent

"Friends Like These" is another gem.

All fantastic photos and all very well composed and converted.

I can see with captures like these you need to be a full time wedding photographer!

Well, I have to agree with everyone else; for a "non-wedding photographer" these are pretty darn good. There's much more to wedding photography than just getting pictures. Capturing the mood is so important and I think you've done very well in that respect. Wander over to the wedding forum at Fred Miranda and have a look at some of the images there. I think you'll find that your stack up quite well. There's actually a lot of very good info in there for budding wedding photogs. Here's a link...

Too many subjects, not enough time...

... especially the "flowergirl".

Don't you just love getting back to computer & checking out your new photos!

Never get sick of this... especially when you surprise yourself with an unexpected great shot.

... though with your skill level maybe you are not surprised!:)

Very well done. My absolute favorite would be "laces" and next would be the cake. Nice work.

Thank you for posting Keitha.
You did really good with those pictures.
I like the "Groomsman" the most.

The fact that you use K100D and primes only and no flash,
that's what really amazing.
I've always thought that for wedding photography we will need zoom and flash.

A friend of mine is getting married and I was asked to help taking their photos.
I have neither good zoom nor good flash.

But what you did here really give me a much better confidence in my kit (which mostly are primes & K100D).

Of course there's still a lot for me to learn & practice before getting to your level but this is a good start.

Good job and thanks for your posting again.

It requires quite a bit of talent and hard work to capture such a collection of high quality and interesting shots in just one evening! (Did you have any time to enjoy the party at all ;-)?)

Very well done. Wish I could hire a friend with your talents when my time's up. :)
