Is this a photography forum or what....

That's why there is a subject line in the thread. If you don't want to read it, you don't have to. There is also a next tab as well. Or are you just crying again because someone's post got more responses that yours?
Bill
After following this forum for a few weeks I have to make a
comment. Not to be ugly or rude but seems like a lot of people take
the time and effort to post legitamite questions on this forum
about photography and a lot of times no one will answer but
something about being sober for a week or whether or not theres
multiple personalities using the same screen name gets lots of
attention. Just take a look at the other forums sure they are not
as active but then again most of the stuff posted has to do with
photography not as a means of getting attention or whatever . It's
disheartening that a few can demand so much attention by being
clowns and some of the truely sincere people get ignored.
If you want to make a joke whats wrong with doing it with a funny
picture or something like that. If you want to get therapy then why
not go to a self help forum. My opinion I am sure doesn't count for
much as I WAS a newbie but for now toodle de doo. Makes you wonder
what kind of folks are posting here. Some are sincere and my hats
off to them but to the others who use this forum for something
besides photography get a life people....
Thanks It was entertaining to say the least

Hi Dwight, I've been wondering where you've been. I had that coming. But when you post that in the subject line that's kinda like standing up in public and saying that statement. There's a place and time for that, like a AA forum......

please excuse my grammar. It was my worst subject in school and I sometimes embarrass myself. I also make mistakes when I'm passionate and watching the indy 500 at the same time :-)

Once again, that's your opinion. There is nothing forcing you to read any of these threads. Judging by the number of people that responded to Ergo's thread, it looks like quite a few people were interested in taking part in it. I don't see what the harm is in that. Looks like you're in the minority.

yes Dwight and a lot people watch those Jenny Jones type shows as well. It's the said example of where society is these days. I don't have to open his thread when he puts his vice in the subject line. Once that guy at the meeting stands up and says "I've been sober for a week" the cats out of the bag and can't be put back in.......

Yes, Billy, and I was expressing MINE (opinion), as you have expressed yours. :)

Willa
As Jack Nicholson said to Shriley MacLaine in "Terms of
Endearment", "I think you need a drink 'cause it's gonna take a LOT
of alcohol to kill that bug up your A* " I am pretty much a newbie
on this forum, too, and I have learned a LOT! The humor and
interjections mixed in with tips and tricks is really a good blend.
What a cranky pants you are. Go take a nap. You need one. Then,
go to Barnes and Noble and buy a few books on photography, since
you really are not partisan to the 'social interaction' part of a
forum. Oh, and for the record, your post WAS rude and ugly. There
is always someone who wants to spit in the punch, I swear. This
time, it's YOU. This forum is educational, funny and interesting.
Your post wreaks of sour grapes. Your disposition is not our
fault. You said you've been visiting this forum for weeks. Why?

Hi BillyBoy02..

Welcome to the soup...you are an ingredient...and should be so..

Just remember when all the ingredients are put together and its turns out the soup is minestone or vegatable...one ingredient does not make it to be that..

This forum is what it is because of the other people here...it will be that until they decide otherwise or Phil Askey kicks us all out for using up his server space that he pays money for!

I donate time and give money here, because I want to learn, I love people, I love to share, I need people to make me a better individual.

Do you need perhaps a little seasoning? or do you need to cook somewhere else? You choose...

I welcome you here with your special attributes...blend in with us.

I thought I'd said all I was going to on this but feel like putting another 2p worth in here.
well I stand behind Michael original comments even though he's gone
soft. A lot of you have liken this forum to a community. When's the
last time you were at some sort of a community meeting and someone
stood up and said "I've been sober for a week"
I went to a rat show a few weeks ago - we looked at and admired the rats, I bought some stuff, we talked about our pets and then we also talked about holidays, the internet, our health, our families - we even compared Olympuses (Olympusii??). A community meeting where no one talks amongst themselves is a lecture, as far as I'm concerned...
forum to be like a Jenny Jones show ? Does all of are failing and
vice's have to be disgusted in public, isn't there such a thing as
"good taste" that we try to strive for ?
No one is obliged to reveal their "vices" here or anywhere but to me, it says a great deal about a group of people (or at least the majority of a group) when someone feels secure enough to DO that. I take my hat off to them and feel a warmth in my heart that I am amongst those kind of people. Every human on this planet has strengths and weaknesses which are there to be shared and learned-from. I'm glad I'm here - both on this planet and in this group.

Bill, if being comfortable with others revealing their true selves is not one of your strengths then it matters not - your strengths must lie in other directions which we on this forum also benefit from and let's celebrate our differences because what a dull world it would be if we all stood up and said the same things ;-) But just click on to something that does interest you and where your strengths will shine thru, please? That way we ALL benefit.

peace to you, and all,

-H

To put it bluntly, I really don't give a damn what camera you own. Do you whine this much in your everyday life or just when you are behind the anonymity of a computer? You must be one sorry individual.

Yes, you have to have balance, if you had no comedy or fun , the forum would die, the posts would become dull and boring.

My tip is , get a life and enjoy life...........don't take yourself so seriously, your only going to die like the rest of us :).

I saw this post so just had to comment, you only have to look at some of the other forums to see where you could be heading without a bit of comedy, many people leave, getting fed up with cranky attitudes and aggressive attitudes, don't forget once you have purchased your camera and had fun with it, new people begin to arrive with newer cameras and you get pushed into the background and eventually loose interest and leave................unless you contribute in an open and happy manner and comedy helps you do this and so do off topic posts, so keep it going and enjoy yourself.

aitchsee, I understand where your coming from. People with vices are lauded in our society. It makes people feel more comfortable where as people who try to live more virtuous lives are "boring" and targets. Now if this person would have said he was sober for a year then that's something to bring foward here possibly. Keep watching Jerry Springer !

Hey, really, thanks for all the fish and welcome (sincerely) to the Forum.

I read most of the posts in this thread but not the last handful. What a lively discussion----ain't life grand? Sure is a good thing we don't all think alike---life would get boring real quick.

I found a forum for Oly users (can't remember what it was). One post refered someone here so I came, I lurked, I eventually joined, and after awhile timidly posted. I did see one thread where someone really blasted someone else for their technical skills or lack of---that kind of scared me from posting but I realized it was not typical. Actually, after my first visit or two I thought the forum was a big joke. But I kept coming back. Why? This forum has personality (apparently multiple at times), humor, and people willing to help others---with technical aspects of photography and in other ways via a community with at least one common interest---oly digital photography. By now, I think you have figured out there is something going on at this forum that is lacking in some others. I have learned alot here without even asking a question and I feel I have gotten to know some of the folks here without even interacting with them.

Stick around, not only do I think you will enjoy it, I think you have a lot to contribute.

Now, the one thing that was missing from this photography forum thread is a picture. So here is one. This guy is just chewing on it too, just like everyone else here. Thanks for the food for thought!
