I never would have taken this picture with film. I saw the frog and set my C2000z in the rocks right in front of his nose. I didn't know if the autofocus would work, but what did I have to lose? That's why I love digital photograghy. It feels me from the fear of wasting film and money. I take more pictures and better ones. And I have so much fun. Because of reading this forum, I just got a c2100. I can hardly wait to see how much fun it's going to be!

Good depth of field, a very good shot......

Thats what I like about digital, being able to experiment without worrying about film and processing costs.

That is an awesome shot...
and welcome to the wonderful crazy world of writing with light!

I totally agree with your conclusions.

I have taken 10 times more shots in less than 6 months than I ever did using my Canon F-1 which is a pro-35 mm film camera. The cost of the 3,000+ shots I have taken would have been too high!

Now my problem is more trying to focus on what I want to shoot and also write about.

One thing in your photo...are you shooting at SHQ? if not switch to that..unless you are shooting sports and need a shorter lag time...

SM cards are pretty cheap these days...get at least two 128MB ones.

Also, get extra batteries...I have 3 sets now.

I really appreciate your comment about not giving the camera too much credit. How often have you showed someone a wonderful photo you've taken only to have them say,"Wow, what kind of camera do you have? My camera never takes pictures this good."
Christine

That is a great photo! Film, digital, whatever. The camera is
simply a tool. You create with it! Don't give the camera too much
credit. You captured that moment. Nicely done.

That's the beauty of digital imaging. It removes the inhibition that film has given us and that is the cost factor. We no longer worry about the "cost" of pressing that shutter button so we tend to shoot anything and everything. Thanks to digital cameras, I'm enjoying watching my wife discover photography and I am ecstatic that my brother is now going to jump into digital. He's getting my 3040 next week and he and his fiancee will soon be snappin' away. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see my dad get into it and he's 72 years young. He's never been "serious" about photography but he always has enjoyed taking photos.

Christine Gay,
