Uhhh, but that's true! I doubt even hard core Canonites would dispute that after using both.
For peeps trying to decide between the two, it's impt. to compare in reviews imo.

So you mean that if I buy a 2500 euros camera with a 600 euros lens, I'll get better results than with a 700 euros camera with a 150 euros lens ?

ok now that I understand the question... I found a setting yesterday that works: you can set the flash to "off", while setting the AF assist to "on". It works !!
So you have the AF assist strobe (which is so annoying, strange noise, and unpleasant overall), but no flash.
I think the only thing you need to be sorry about is missing the point about "best in class". "Best in class" does not mean "best DSLR in the market." They are comparing it with comparably priced/positioned DSLR cameras.
Lets not forget that an L lens on an XSi will probably produce very good results as well.

Bumping up one full stop ? Heck that's even a lot worse than the dreaded Xti/400D ux was .. LOL !
Who cares .. my 400D was fixed and I got a 40D as back up .. :-D and they expose the same ..
