I just recieved 2 large boxes from B&H, my new D300, 18-200VR, Nikkor 14-24 f2.8G ED, SB800, Tammy 90mm macro, extra battery, and Lowepro backpack. I am no stranger to DSLR's and photography (started with a Pentax K1000 back when I was 12), the jumped to Nikon back in the 80's with the F3HP, 4004s and moving up to the 8008s,prosumer all in one cams, then on to Olympus digital, mainly the E1. I dumped thatE1 a year or so ago, and was bitten by the Nikon bug after my baby bro grabbed a D200 and let me play. Anyhow...looking forward to re learning, and have been lurking on the D300 part of this board for a month or so, adn a DPreview member since 2001. I have seen some very talented folks here, I look forward to posting pics and comments.
Happy shooting!
Rob

I am sure you will be very happy with everything you purchased. Now go shoot some pics and post some pictures. Dave

Hey, Rob, welcome to this forum! There's quite a few of us old Oly Forum guys over here, though I don't post much here. I still use my Oly cams but have been shooting a D70 for the past several years and recently acquired a D200.

You have a great camera and some nice equipment. I started on DPR in the Olympus forum with the terrific 3040.

Good to see some of my ol' Olympus friends have migrated as well....gets me all warm and fuzzy inside :). I still have the C2100, I use it for handheld IR pics, still a great cam for that. The D200 is a great camera, my brother has taken some spectacular shots with his, I am sure you will get many years of service from it.
Take care ****, nice to see you here,
Rob

I was a big Olympus man until DSLR's became somewhat affordable, I loved my C2100 and E-10 the most out of the 8 or so I had from 1996-2002, but the D300 is in a different class altogether, enjoy you late Christmas gifts to yourself.

I'm in...from the D200 and D70 in the past. I've been on these boards for a number of years, primarily as a lurker, but enjoy speaking largely in favor of primes, such as the 20mm, 24mm (2.8's), and 50mm 1.4, all of which get periodic discussion here and on the lens forum...though I'm trying to "relearn" zooms, as I have the 14-24 lens to replace the 20 and 24 primes which I really loved while I had them.

I know, a rather belated introduction...on an old thread nonetheless...feel free to fill in the blanks :)
