I get married

Well done all 3 of you - Colin, that B&W picture is simply superb.
I honestly don't understand this.

In my opinion, the first image is an ok snapshot, although it's a bit
overblown and framing is not particularly good. The second is a very
nice photo with good colour. But the last one... I just don't
understand why anyone would like to over-expose (in post?) a photo
this much if the subject isn't very critical of her supposed
uglyness. The subject looks nice as she is, so why remove her facial
features? I'd never leave an image looking like this from my hands.

I see, of course, that I am in a minority here, because everyone else
seems to think that the B&W image is great.

Kind regards,
  • Henrik

It's a high-key portrait. Look up the technique and method... an accepted artistic phenomenon. There is a method to the madness if you google it :) I think it looks great though. The images are fantastic, though I personally would have closed down the aperture slightly for the first picture, since ONLY the eye is in focus, and this isn't immediately obvious when you look at the picture (and so ostensibly it looks OOF).

Mazel tov!

Oh-oh, watch out using that word "gig", she might think of something totally totally difference. A gik(same sound) in Thai is a slang word mean, someone who is between friend and boy/girlfriend (sometime just mean casual partner).
Currently stuck in Beijing on a gig....

Personally I think the b/w portrait is stunning. If you don't like it, why not just say nothing? Would you have said all that in person?

Beautiful pictures. Especially like the high key BW.

Congratulations to you both. May you enjoy a long and blissful companionship.
